looking for a cheap new folding knife

Don't completely discount the Buck 110 or even a 112. You can add a thumb-bar or stud to them for one hand opening...they'll never open as smoothly as a liner or frame lock due to the back spring tension, but once they lock, they don't come unlocked either. If the weight it too much for pocket carry, there are Bucklite versions of each that are a lot more pocket friendly.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Add some money yourself and get a Benchmade Griptilian. Why keep getting junk knives?

Put a few extra $$$' with your $50 and get a Delica or go the other way and get a Buck 112 and save some $$ ..* One is light and very sharp and the other is heavy and very sharp -- either one will serve you very well over the years.!

Buck vantage select, great USA knife for about $25, blade is great for EDC. I use my vantage pro every day at work, and I break down a ton of boxes.

Lazy lizard has some good stuff. I especially like the Ganzo G720. Wondering how big it actually is.

The squares are 10mm on a side.

Close tolerances, still well centred after adjusting the pivot.
A very strong, well made knife. I have 5 Ganzo knives and this one is the best fit/finish/material, the G712 a close second.

Don't forget that WalMart has a much larger selection of knives available online. You can find some great knives that you never see on the shelves of your local store.

Is that Chinese Ganzo really worth the price of a Tenacious, Rat 1, or Utilitac? Are those handles plastic or G10? They look slippery.

Camillus Hustle---$25 at Walmart-------AUS8 steel---G10 handle---thumb studs--removable pocket clip----right hand only for the clip though

My girlfriend just got a new job, so she's planning on getting me a Wal-Mart knife. I have a Gerber guardian which is my current EDC. Drop point preferably.

How about the BRK Avispa..? :D

Good to know, jbowman3. I just see all the other choices here and would personally be drawn to them more if I were the OP.

Hmm, can't say I think of Buck 110/112 as a junk knife, or an Otario Rat 2, or a kershaw.....I had a Byrd Cara Cara that was a very good knife (despite the low price). There are lots of good knives that don't cost a whole lot and still perform very well.

+1 to that. I have some very expensive knives (I'm a ZT fan boy, after all), but that Rat 2 is an amazingly nice knife. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Buck 110, but I get that it's personal choice.

Dear OP,

If you want a knife like this...

The squares are 10mm on a side.

It should look like this, but will cost substantially more...

LionSteel SR-2A

YMMV

I'd recommend an Ontario RAT folder.

I really love the Rat1. It works well and that's all I want from a knife.

I don't hate Chinese knives like the one posted above, but at $30 I really don't understand buying one of those before a Byrd, Rat, Kershaw, or Buck 110. I understand that some are collectors and enjoy many different types, but even then I'd rather have one of those first. Just my personal choice.
