Looking for a concealed carry fire arm for edc

As others have stated, you have a G17. The G26 is the logical compact gun and a pretty accurate shooter as well.

Well there are many factors I do not know but it depends what you are willing to carry. The G19 is quite larger than the xds but still carryable. I would look at some of the Kahr series and the compact M&P series. Both are great guns but you are talking about a medium/compact double stack verses a single stack subcompact gun. Just take in consideration the width, height and weight difference. Holster wise I like iwb Kydex holsters usually custom ones or one from bravo concealment. Crossbreed style for the xds is good too.

I just got a M&P 9c for EDC and live it the grip fits my hand good and it shoots great it's light for all day carry which is exactly what I was wanting .. I will say tho that if I'd have found a Walther P99 compact that is what I would have went with .

Im applying for a CCW in California, a tall order.

I believe that my Glock 19 and XDm Compact in .45 are perfect for concealed carry.

Smaller suggestions are M&P Shield, XDs, baby Glocks... So many options.

I'm 5'9", 185# and was IWB carrying a Glock 17. The only problem was a little bit of printing at the end of the butt. 30 minutes with a 1X30 belt sander and my G17 now accepts G19 magazines and my printing problem is gone.

If I were you I would look real hard at a Glock 26. The 17/26 combo is hard to beat. The 19's trigger guard rubs a blister on my finger when I shoot it more than a hundred or so rounds at a time (something I do a lot when I shoot).

Regarding Glocks and if just one, I'd prolly go 19. But otherwise, +1 for the 17/26 combo. One has the full size service auto in the 17. And the 26 can do BOTH its job, AND the 19s niche. By running the 19 mags and sleeve setup. Presto, a sightly shorter barreled G19. And it still has the awesome versatility of being a G26 with a simple mag swap. So its typically my truck gun. With both mags along with it, I then always have both options. The 19 can't do the same.

Like this.. Other mag has the +1rd finger extension added.

For those times I can't carry the 26.. I use the Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380. Awesome single action trigger! Which is mo-better then the only thing I dislike with most subcompacts..DOA triggers. I use the crazy hot .380 Underwood 102gr Golden Sabre load at 1060fps. 2nd mag uses their 100gr Flat Nose at 1150fps. Figure by then, the bad guy would be behind a barrier of some sort. Pic taken during a recent backpack trip. Alum frame makes it fairly light.

I have my own shooting range 70yrds from the house. From the bench to the back stop where my son is standing is 85yrds. I shoot 4-5 times weekly since its so convenient.

I'm a CZ whore
I like my P-07 9mm for EDC

Granted, I have a steel guide rod, CGW internals, night sights, TLR-1s, etc.

You're an idiot if you think a G19 is too big to conceal fyi
Quick pic here at work. Sorry for the flash on the 710

Depends much on the size of the person and how that person dresses. A friend's wife is sorely disappointed she can't pull off concealing a 19, and trust me, she's no idiot.

A little over the top, don't you think? Some folks aren't there yet and this kind of rhetoric doesn't help them at all. It took me a long time and many carry setups before I found one that would allow me to carry something as big as my M&P45 compact and was reasonably comfortable. Most days I carry my M&P9c in a Kydex OWB holster under an untucked shirt or jacket, because it does seem to carry a little easier than the 45.

It's all trial and error. We all get there in our own time.

^^
The correct holster, belt, pants and shirt, you could conceal a full size uzi.

You're right, it's hard to conceal a G19 in an uncle mike's with one size too small trousers and a tight fitting $50 abercrombie T-shirt.

It's harder for women, I'll give you that. ONLY b/c it's nto socially acceptable to dress like a dude. Still, a G19 can be worn in $200 'Buckle' jeans and a $3,000 vera wang dress.
Holster and belt are the biggest factor. Most people frown at a $500 gun and then $500 in accessories. That's the way it is though

Plenty of choices for sure. I like to have a few to choose from if possible. I'm really partial to the .45 since I carried a 1911 most of my career. I find the XDs a great "little" pistol with plenty of power. Has a great trigger too. Practice practice practice as no handgun is certain.

My buddy has this set up and he was letting go me try it out the other day at the range. It was sweet! Easy to shoot accuratly, felt good in my hand and was just a joy. I may be adding one to my EDC rotation after the holidays. ;)

While I am a big Springfield fan ( I own 3 XDM's) I don't really care for the XDS. Mainly because of ammo capacity. 6-7 rounds against multiple attackers isn't the best idea even with an extra mag and that my pinky hangs off the end of the grip reducing control. I EDC my XDM 3.8 19+1 with an extra mag gives me some peace of mind for even the worst case scenarios. I really love the ergos on the XDM's and their reliability. Nothing wrong with Glock, M&P, HK and several others. The best thing to do is shoot a pistol before you buy it to find out how the ergos and controllability are. If you can open carry where you live I would not worry about printing when you are carrying concealed because 99% of the time only you and other CCW folks will notice.

The pearse extension was a must for the XDs for me. It adds just enough for a third finger. As far as capacity goes, it's a give & take. I've been in those SHTF situations and one cannot argue the value of plenty of rounds. God forbid the need ever arise as a civilian and I hope my years of training will allow me to keep my cool while some idiot(s) is flailing a weapon.

I carry a Springfield XDm compact 45 concealed with the short mag nearly every day in a Hidden Hybrid Holster iwb. Most of the time I dont even notice it. I'm right at 5'11, 190lbs. I didnt have to go up in pant size or anything, just got me a decent carry belt for the holster and I was good to go. I do carry and train at about the 4:30 position. I can put the high cap mag in it and move it around to about 5 oclock and it conceals fairly well for me. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend any of the XDm line to anyone.

Sig P238 in a Robert Mika pocket holster. Seriously.

this is my go to, it's built around the 1911 design and is instantly familiar to me when using.... beyond that i carry various other seizes and calibers of the 1911 platform depending on my dress...my next choice would be a wheel gun of sorts.

These threads are always entertaining. You ask 3 people which firearm you should buy for EDC and you'll get 5 opinions.

Here's mine. Shove it in your waistband. You may walk funny, but you'll be protected.

Just in case you aren't sure, yes, I am being facetious. ;)
