We are looking for a few good designs!

Time to let the cat out of the bag.

Many of you have wondered where I have been and what I have been up to since selling BFC and 1SKS. I am still here and kicking and have some great news.

I have been working on a project now behind the scenes for over a year now. It is about to come into fruition and we will officially launch a new company at the upcoming Blade Show (Booth 31 BTW). It will be a new company with an old name but with great new ideas.

Everyone is familiar with custom collaborations by now. You know when a custom knife maker hooks up with a manufacturer to produce a more affordable version of a popular knife they make. Well the new company will be 100% based on the collaboration idea but with a twist, several actually, and you can even be a part of it.

Read on :)

Right now I have working relationships with several manufacturers. Some in the US and several more overseas.

  • What if a company could take designs from custom knife makers (or anyone for that matter) and produce them at a price that anyone could afford? Meaning that virtually every knife would be below $100 and most at or below $50.
  • What if we could do that and maintain high quality?
  • What if we could offer the custom knife maker or designer benefits that are beyond anything being done right now? Like retirement and insurance and maybe more.
  • What if the company would listen to everyone who has a great idea and give a knifenutt, such as anyone posting here, the same chance at getting their knife design to market as the famous custom makers get?
Now that would be cool, huh?

Well now all the above is true and the company will be called Dragon Forge. Several designs are in the works right now and prototypes will be shown at the Blade Show in Atlanta. Anyone interested in submitting designs should contact me ASAP.

Here is what we are looking for.
Ideally we want something that is different but not too far out there. Different lock designs, shapes or anything that is not the norm is always welcome. We can build nearly anything so all categories are being looked at from throwing knives to swords to autos and everywhere in between. I even have an exclusive nunchaku design in the works :)

I am also looking for a graphic artist. I contacted Boris Vellejo but it seems our communication is falling through the cracks and time is now of the essence, so I need someone who has great artistic ability and wishes to have a side job with Dragon Forge. TO see the level of artisitc work I am needing visit ]this site.

So let's see those ideas!

Send all emails to dragonforge@wowinc.com[/email
(Note: my email has been screwing up over the last couple of days so make sure I get it. I will reply to each email letting you know I did in fact receive itso look for my reply within 48 hours of you sending)

Thanks for listening and good luck!

Oh ya the contest!

The first person to get a design in that we approve to be built will get a $1,000 bonus on top of the other $$$ you will make! This applies to all designs submitted after todays date. The $1,000 will be paid 30 days after your knife goes into production.

Enjoy!

I was going to ask the same question as LizardKing. Also, do you want folder designs or fixed blades or ?? Thanks

CAD drawings, pencil drawing, crayons or lip stick on a mirror, anyway you can get them to us :D

We are accepting ANY design but what we are looking for more than anything is folders as they will be the largest number of SKU's we carry, like everyone else.

Oh no, I can see it now! Vampire Gerbile will be sending me a lip stick drawing on his stomach and some other body part :D

Sounds pretty cool, Mike! Yeah, I kinda figured you were up to something (as always :D). Looking forward to seeing more at Blade!

You will have some mail coming as soon as I can get this stupid scanner working.

Mike, I'll email you some designs. How much can your mail box hold?? LOL. Or should I snail mail them to ya? I'll work on some gents EDC FB's, some hunters, some utilities, some neck knives, and some folders. I always wanted to design stuff :) If you have more specifics you would want to see, email me. I got a few days off coming up :)

Mike:

I tried sending you a design tonight, but I got this response:

I can't even imagine the response you're getting from this contest! Please advise on how I can submit my entry...

With bated breath,

Since your email is full, i cant send you this.

I just came up with an evolution of one of the designs that i sent you, This is much better, it's cheap and elegant, it would give you a key advantage, you may want to inclued this on all of your folders.

Email me you wont be dissapointed.

Keep trying guys. I am clearing my box as often as possible. Try to keep your image files smal. Scans should be saved as .jpg

If you are a custom knife maker we would need an actual protoype. I already have some in house from Bobby Branton and Rob Simonich who are both already on board :)

I can't say which designs we will have from which makers yet. You will be pleased though :)

Rob and Bobby.... ssshhhhhhh.....

I guess all that I can say is... WOW :D . From the sound of it if even half of these guys end up having designs used it will rock.

Some of you guys have some real talent! Seriously I am impressed and you can bet that at least a couple of you guys are going to see your knives actually get built and in production!

Keep 'em coming guys and try to get them in some sort of drawing. Pencil drawings are fine. I am surprized that I don;t have a lipstick drawing from Vampire Gerbile yet :)
