Looking for a Flashlight. Any Recommendations?

i'm a big fan of 4Sevens. I own one AA^2 Tactical R5, and i am waiting on delivery of a AA Tactical R5 and a blue Preon 2

check out the fenix tk12, its one hell of a light for 70$, 250 lumen, water tight to ipx-8, the modes make sense and are grouped well and accessible and can be used with the momentary on the back without resetting them. the light is tough, i dropped it more then enough times onto cement from standing height-- it just bounces. tight tolerances, solid light.
cr123's can be had from ebay for 11$/4 with charger...IMHO its waay better value then surfires.

i've had good luck with the fenix lights too, i've got a tk10,11 and a 12, the tk11 is mounted on my shotgun its stood up to some pretty heavy recoil with no problems.

The new surefire G2X Pro is freakin awesome! It runs about $65. For that price you get a polymer flashlight with a metal bezel, 2 different outputs: first click is 10 lumen, 2nd click is 200 lumens! (for some reason the Surefire lumens are brighter than a lot of the foreign stuff), momentary or clickie on/off, and a USA made product from a company that stands behind thier warranty. Also, if you want to add a clip the clips from the novatac lights work really well!

The Chinese stuff is OK. I have had mixed experiences with them, I had a switch go out on one and another light had some sort of battery draining problem. Again, I think there was an issue with the tailcap switch. I have owned lots of Surefires and have never had an issue! The new Surefire G2X Pro is really the best bang for your buck when it comes to surefires!

Take your new G2X Pro, turn it on and hit it on your palm (about like cracking an egg) and watch as it changes modes. It can do the same thing while your running with it.

When they made a "cheaper" Surefire, they made it cheap, in my opinion. Yes, I own one. And no, none of my less expensive Fenix lights changes modes like this :grumpy:

I have had good luck with 4sevens Quark lights. I have a Quark AA2 warm turbo and an AA2 neutral tactical. As far as headlamps are concerned I have a Zebra Light H51 that I use a lot. All the lights listed above use AA batteries. Easy to find in a store and cheap, especially if you are using rechargeables.

I think yours needs to go back for warranty. I was beating on my last night after I read your post and didn't notice any problems. Send it in and see what they say, I am curious...

I'd call them. They'll likely take care of it.
