Looking for a folder with Bowie style blade

Clip Point blade shaped folder is what OP is looking for. A real "Bowie Knife" has a clip point and it was a fixed blade that Jim Bowie first used in the Alamo era.

Clip Point folders are just "Bowie Style" blade shaped, A real Bowie is a fixed blade that was used as a fighting knife.

Not to offend, but there just isn't any standard definition of a bowie knife and there's a fair amount of debate about what Jim Bowie's knife even looked like. It's a term that's incredibly broad and I don't see any reason to exlude folders, honestly.

What size blade is that one? Looks like they come in 3,4, and 5 1/2"?

The blade on that one is 4 inches. It's a Recon 1, there's also a 5.5 inch Recon 1 XL. The Voyager lineup comes in 3, 4, and 5.5 inches. The Espada line comes in 3.5, 5.5, and 7.5 versions. The Recon and Voyager lines are available plain edge, combo edge, or full serrated. The Espada line is available in plain G10 or polished G10 with aluminum bolsters.

That is very interesting. Any photos or links to such old folding bowies would be appreciated.

As for the use of Bowie style or Bowie point to describe a clip point? It happens, and has probably happened since the Bowie became popular. It's not the most technical of terms, and probably would've annoyed cutlers, but merchants like(ed) it. It seems to have caught back on in the last decade, probably because it sounds cooler than "Deep Clip", "Deeply Clipped', or "Aggressively Cipped" which were sometimes used to describe that type of clip.

Awesome looking folder! What is it?- please tell some more. Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about mine it's a Ferrum Forge/Bladejunkee Oppressor V2. It is one of twenty-five made and I think each one was different cosmetically.

Cold Steel Lone Star Hunter. 4 inch blade. Built like a tank. Tri Ad lock. Discontinued, but still available. $25.

Bowie knives are so ill-defined that it could if you wanted it to. Personally, I'd call it a California clip point as that's a bit clearer.

But would it be a northern caly clip? Or would you consider it more of a Bay Area style?
(It's obviously not the So. Cal variety)
;)

Recon 1 is definitely a nicely shaped bowie.

The Broken Skull is a longer, slimmer design, but I like it much less aesthetically.

The AK47 is kind of a bowie, but more like a drop point, and I think it's the most versatile shape, even though not as beautiful as the agressive clip on the Recon.
Hope you enjoy yours!

The Benchmade Crooked River has caught my eye more than once. What a handsome folder.

Almost traded for a Crooked River BM this weekend at a gun show. It was still too new, and they weren't budging on the price at all.

May just wait for the knife to be around a while and let things settle down a bit, but I WILL have one! :D
