Looking for a good, yet unique edc

I've been a long time collecter of knives, most of which sit in a drawer. Consequently, I dont really have a good edc. I usually carry around a victorinox, but the blades aren't really the best for what I would need it for. Not to mention the lack of a locking mechanism.

I'm looking for an folder edc that deviates from the common design of just being plain and black. It needs to be able to withstand a good bit of abuse. A tanto blade would be preferable, as I don't have one yet. Nothing overly expensive either, I wouldn't have the heart to use it. Just something close to 100$. However a suggestion of anything unique but still practical would help.

You own a collection of knives you don't use. What do you want from your next knife that the ones you now own do not fulfill? Knowing this will help to narrow the choices.

Spyderco Stretch in VG-10 is a great EDC which can be used to open packages, cut rope, or slice veggies in the kitchen.
I've had several...down to one at the moment. It also FITS my hand better than a lot of knives.
Many, many good choices out there, friend.

Cold steel recon. Maybe the smaller version is at 3 inches and the recon is a SOLID knife

Have you ever checked out FOX USA knives? I have a couple and really like them. Just don't hear people talk about them much. In particular I bought the cocobolo Olympian...and I love it and it has a unique look.

What about a custom edc sized fixed blade?

Just noticed you said folder edc. I will repost after some thought.

If you want unique, you need a one-of-a-kind custom. If there's another one like it, it's not unique.

One or the other of the smaller knives here are pretty "unique" / different.

Tanto ? No Tanto ? OK I heard yah . . . I'll get to that.
But first the unique knives. The first one is the Spyderco Cricket.
The second one is discontinued and kind of hard to find but is unique . . . it is the Spyderco Balance. When closed it even looks like a little, old time, flying saucer.

Too small you say . . .
I say Grashopper, when you are able to slice a water mellon and carve a turkey with one of these knives . . .
THEN
. . . it will be time for you to leave the monastery.

OK you want unique and tanto.
Ohhhhhhhalllllllllllright

Get a Gerber Remix Tactical
Top knife in this photo.
And you will have enough left over to take your significant other out to dinner.

PS: I think I mentioned that I buy TOO many knives with round holes all over them . . . ? . . .
yah . . . like I said. :o

Try a karambit perhaps? They're pretty unique, good work blades, and great self defense capabilities.

Check out the 5.11 tarani kbit in s30v, or fox knives 599.

Spyderco's new rendition of the karahawk looks badass too.

Buy a buck 110. Have the blade ground into a tanto with a tip up carry pocket clip and a wave feature

It's not a tanto, but main blade locks. Walnut handle. Quite striking. Practical. $75.00 on a site that shall remain nameless. Just saying...if you like a Swiss Army, Victorinox has some options. There are other locking versions as well.

Just pretend this is hwitty.

When I EDC my 110 I have my knife valet carry it. Just too heavy for me to carry.
He has this little cart . . . like a golf club cart . . . has a towel on it and moist towel ets to wipe my brow and hands . . .

:p

Tanto, tanto . . . all I hear is tanto.
Tanto is SO passé
The Razel . . . is so MORE "Today".

You all know I'm kidding right ? Or maybe I'm not. I can't even tell. But as long as you are hacking off the end of a perfectly good knife; may as well go all the way . . . I say.

I would suggest a Griptilian tanto. Handle of your choice/ colour. And if you go for the micarta handles which are available on ebay you'll have a semi-custom workhorse which also looks coool. :)
