I've recently revised my get-home bag, and I realized that I missed the knife I had in it, so I'm needing a new fixed blade. It's a survival knife, so it just needs to hold a functional edge for a long time, and be able to handle some basic tasks like cutting/chopping wood, food, rope, etc. I'm partial to a full flat grind and a thick, robust stock, so keep that in mind. My budget is right around $100. I'd love to go less, but can go higher if I'm really impressed.
My original thought was that I could go with an Ontario SP52... 10" blade, 1/4" stock, FFG, 5160 steel... Seems like a good choice to me, but I want opinions from you guys before I pull the trigger.
Thanks!
