Looking for a knife for a get-home bag.

I've recently revised my get-home bag, and I realized that I missed the knife I had in it, so I'm needing a new fixed blade. It's a survival knife, so it just needs to hold a functional edge for a long time, and be able to handle some basic tasks like cutting/chopping wood, food, rope, etc. I'm partial to a full flat grind and a thick, robust stock, so keep that in mind. My budget is right around $100. I'd love to go less, but can go higher if I'm really impressed.

My original thought was that I could go with an Ontario SP52... 10" blade, 1/4" stock, FFG, 5160 steel... Seems like a good choice to me, but I want opinions from you guys before I pull the trigger.

Thanks!

Becker.

BK-9 or BK-7 to be more specific.

I only use the knives I make or these are what I would want. I may still get one

Cheers

Buck 119 should get you home with enough money to get a 6-pack, and a few Big Macs.

Ill have to say the BK9 or BK7 too, i still need to grab one of those. at the moment im sporting a Kabar Fin as my main blade in my Bag, though of course there are many...many more in there :D

My Cold Weather Get Home Bag is sporting a BK2.

In my get home bag, I have a Mora 511 and a Condor Hudson Bay. The former for the usual knife stuff, the latter for heavy duty stuff. Both are good, reliable blades, but neither are so precious that I mind banishing them to the trunk of the car.

Get two Mora Companion Heavy Duties, a box of beer, and save the last 50$ for a rainy day.

Im not sure, that I know what a 'get-home' bag is (I know, what a BOB, a GOOD and a PERK bag is though, LOL), but Snody makes a nifty compact knife called the Black Diamond Boss as a knife for a BOB

Definitely a BK-7 or BK-9. BK-2 is great 2 but less of a chopper if you want something that can chop. The 2 can chop, but not quite as well.

Appreciate the suggestions, guys! The BK-9 is looking really appealing right now.

A bag to keep in the vehicle, in case you have to abandon the vehicle. Basically a bag with enough stuff to survive about 48 hours.
