I'd go with something like a Svord 280H ( 7 inch, wood handle), or, if smaller and lighter and cheaper is desired the 1990NZ ( 4.5 inch, wood handles). These are in the 40's to 60's dollar range, using 15N20 or L6 ingot steel, which is tough, and sharpens easy with the convex edge ( bring a sheet of sandpaper with you in your GHB). Both the steel, and the wood grips are suitable for cold weather whithin limits naturally.
Light, inexpensive, tough, quality steel, etc. What more would want for a knife carried more than used. A coating of paste wax, or clear liquid silicone will keep the steel free of oxidation as long as you put it up with no corrosive elements on the blade ( fingerprints even), and don't leave it in a leather sheath that's wet.
Other examples are the Ontarios in 5160, the Blind horse knives in O-1 at around $130 on up.
None of these are Ferhmans, or Busse's but they are great at what they do, and for the price they are excellent. Many, many more choices as you go up in price. Right below $200 is the Spyderco Bushcrafter in O-1. It's extremely well thought out, and build quality and materials impress me more than many more expensive knives.
Good luck.
