I'm looking for a flipper or emerson opening that I can open with winter gloves.
It must be "well built" with "fine" tolerances.

Specs
Blade length should be around 10-13cm/4-5 inches.
The handle can not be more than 1.3cm/0.6inches thick.
Nor may the handle be wider than 3cm/1.2inches closed.
The knife can not weigh more than 150grams/5.2oz.

Steels prefered: VG 10, CPM S35VN, CPM S90V, CPM S110V, N690Co, Elmax, AUS-8, ZDP-189, CPM M4

It will be used for self-defense, kitchen and to fillet smaller fish.
I would prefer it to be a full flat grind with either trailing point, drop point or standard.

Budget 300$

Any suggestions?

Kershaw has an Emerson line that are fairly cheep in price and decently built. They run around $30 to $50 depending on when you buy.

Zt 0630/0620. Emerson cqc8. The more refined knife will be the zt and that will also match your steel preferences. The Emerson will be a little lighter and fit your size preference better. My go to folding knife for winter gloves it my spyderco military. Not a flipper or waved opener but the big spyder hole makes it easy to open with gloves. The knife is big but slim and light. S30v steel in the base model. Starts at less of a $$ than the ones mentioned above.

On the other hand you have a $300 budget that leaves a very wide variety of options you should take a look at a DPX hest/f or bastinelli R.E.D

Nice tips!
Unfortunately, I think all of them comes in a little too short.

In my head I see something like a Spyderco Police with Emerson weave or flipper but I can't find anything like that on the market.

What about a Spyderco Endura with the Emerson wave? Doesn't have the length of the Police nor FFG, but it is fairly slim and light weight.

ZT 452
Emerson Super Commander
BM 710
WE Knives has a few in that size
Fixed blade?
Hogue EX02
I know a couple dont meet specific requirement but I think the ZT would be damn close.
Good luck.
Cheers

What about some of the XL offerings from Cold Steel? Should get the blade length you need, be light weight, and has CTS-XHP that I've been really impressed with and I would say is similar or better than a few of the steels you listed. Some have the thumb plate that should be pretty easy to open with gloved hands and can also be waved open once you know the technique. I'm not super familiar with the line so not sure what has the thumb plate besides the Talwar that is probably pushing the width requirement and may not be as high end as you are looking for.

The Reate Horizon D CF has really impressed me but a tad short and slightly over your weight. Also a little over your budget though I've seen them on sale and sell on the exchange around your max.

Not a ton of 5" folders that I know of and even 4" is on the big side of what's normal. A Spyderco Military as mentioned is a longer blade that is light weight. A Benchmade Contengo maybe? An AXIS lock isn't too hard to flip open.

.6 inches in thickness is the killer. Thats pretty thin. I think your best bet would be the ZT 0452cf.

Alternatively you could try the Spyderco Police. It hits all of your requirements even the thin handle I believe. Not a flipper or emerson wave, but the thumbhole can be easily used with gloves.

Blade length was slightly longer on the Endura than I previously thought!

Ofc it's out of stock in Sweden and Finland..

Thanks for the tip!

Cold Steel Talwar Plain XL are interesting. It should be easy to open with gloves aswell. Seems that it is only made in AUS-8A though :/?

The horizon could have been great if it was just slightly longer and thinner.

All true, It's seems hard to find thin long folders that aint overbuilt and very heavy. Both the Military and Contengo looks to be nice alternatives.

True.

I'm not entirely sure about the Police, if they made it with a flipper, Compression lock and open design I would have bought it allready.
I'm looking for one that falls into all my categorier addition to process firewood. The police can do it but it's a slow and uncomfortable draw in self defense. (Based on my judgment without any experience in that particular model.)

The AUS-8 is the older model. The newer ones have CTS-XHP which I think you would be really happy with based on your list of preferred steels.

I think the Horizon is about 0.5" thick but it doesn't quite meet your other requirements.

For the record.
It is important to me that it is thin when the laws of Sweden says that you can not carry a knife. And if you do, you get a fine and they confiscate the knife.

How is it to sharpen? Can you compare it to some other steel? Looking at the steel chart it seems close to something like vg-10 or n690co correct?

That is understandable. Many people like a thin knife even when they don't have laws to worry about and I prefer mine to be 0.5" thick or less.

Have you ever carried a knife Inside Waist Band (IWB)? I find it very comfortable and if the clip is behind a belt it's almost impossible to see. Might be worth trying if you have to worry about it being seen. I'm right handed and like to carry mine about the 1 o'clock position assuming straight forward is 12.
