Looking for a light weighted flipper or emerson opening.

That is understandable. Many people like a thin knife even when they don't have laws to worry about and I prefer mine to be 0.5" thick or less.

Have you ever carried a knife Inside Waist Band (IWB)? I find it very comfortable and if the clip is behind a belt it's almost impossible to see. Might be worth trying if you have to worry about it being seen. I'm right handed and like to carry mine about the 1 o'clock position assuming straight forward is 12.

I've tried, it works fine on the summer but when it gets colder and my big winterjacket comes on it aint worth it.

I put zip ties on my Spyderco paramilitary 2 spydy hole and it flips right open just like the Emerson wave feature.

not sure how well the compression lock works with gloves tho... other Spyderco models can do the same tho without issues closing with gloves for instance lock backs or the manix2

i'm looking for a flipper or emerson opening that i can open with winter gloves.
It must be "well built" with "fine" tolerances.

Specs
blade length should be around 10-13cm/4-5 inches.
The handle can not be more than 1.3cm/0.6inches thick.
Nor may the handle be wider than 3cm/1.2inches closed.
The knife can not weigh more than 150grams/5.2oz.

Steels prefered: Vg 10, cpm s35vn, cpm s90v, cpm s110v, n690co, elmax, aus-8, zdp-189, cpm m4

it will be used for self-defense, kitchen and to fillet smaller fish.
I would prefer it to be a full flat grind with either trailing point, drop point or standard.

Budget 300$

any suggestions?

How is it to sharpen? Can you compare it to some other steel? Looking at the steel chart it seems close to something like vg-10 or n690co correct?

I haven't had mine too long and have done a light sharpening job and touch ups, but so far it sharpens great. It takes a hair whittling edge easily that still seems a bit aggressive and behaves like more carbide rich steels like M390. I have heard people say it polishes well and takes a mirror edge but I haven't tried.

The edge holding also seems good. From your list I would put it ahead of AUS-8, VG10, n690 and maybe even S30V. I don't have experience with S35VN but it's supposed to be similar to S30V, which I haven't had very good luck with. I don't have experience with Elmax but from what I've read about it I would assume it's similar in edge holding.

The company describes it as a stainless powdered version of D2. I think it might perform a little better than that but that's what it's advertised as.

Sounds very promesing
