Help me decide on a new knife to buy. Preferably a fixed blade with a blade length under 4 inches for general use and maybe bushcraft. My budget is 150 australian dollars.

Check the fixed blade exchange on this forum.

Lots of great prices on good fixed blades. I currently have 3 on me that fit your criteria of a knife, not sure what the USD to Aussie dollar is though.

Btw 1 aud= 0.70 usd

With that exchange rate, you will find a lot of blades in your price range.

I think Ben Akin might have a knife up your alley for sale right now, I believe his username is bigin on here. I've got one of his knives on my hip as I type this.

Thanks will have a look.

Check other listings in that subsection, you will find something that fits your need.

After rechecking the post I linked, it's definitely 2" over your max.

Kabar Becker BK11, BK14, BK24 - all have the same 3.25" blade. 11 and 14 are 1095CroVan, 24 is D2. 11 is a little shorter. About $US45~50.

Have you ever handled an esee izula or candiru?

I have an Izula 2, same blade as the Izula, longer handle, and comes standard with Micarta scales. Awesome little blade.

ESEE 3 is another EDC knife for me.

OP, sorry I forgot to mention the production blades that I love. Lately I've been drawn more to the less well known blades.

I've got 5 ESEE's in my carry rotation at the moment.

No, but the BK14 and BK24 and the same handle as the Izula. But the Izula only has a 2.875" blade.

I have a BK24 and it handles well but it really needs the factory zytel scales to fit my hand properly. They're about $12 for a set of black and orange scales.

I say get it. My buddy carries one daily for EDC use.

Everyone has a different preference for what they like in an EDC knife.

Now I have to decide whether to buy the candiru now or save up and by another Bark River.

Check out LT Wright Knives. They have several knives that will meet your specs!
