Looking for a new shortie. Sub 2.5" folder talk

I have the Vic Alox Cadet and it is really nice. But, I rarely carry it unless I am traveling. It comes in handy for all sorts of things, then.

Have you looked at the Spyderco Chubby? It does not really appeal to me, but it does to many. I bought a Spyderco Cat 2.5" blade to take with me on trips. I leave my more expensive knives at home. the Cat is a great knife in every way and is not expensive.

DPx Heat Shred Carbon

That is very tempting. I do like that it doesn't have the stupid bro skull

How do you plan to carry the knife? If you need one to carry in the bottom of the pocket, pick up an Alox Cadet first. For sure you will want a more expensive sub-2.5 inch folder later on, but the Alox Cadet is a great knife for a great price.

I bought my girlfriend a Megumi last year - it is a beautiful little knife, but not one I'd want to carry around everyday in a pocket full of keys and other junk... I'd be afraid of beating up/chipping the wood.

I don't have a GB Air, but it looks mighty nice.

As far as knives with pocket clips, you have two good ones in the dice and DF2. You could upgrade to a G10 DF2, or try out a Techno. DPx HEAT is a great option too... pretty unique, really wide and really short.

Pocket or clipped. Either way.

I didn't think about chipping up the megumi.

I've checked out the techno and it's an interesting knife.

Your suggestions are not bad. I think I would lean toward the Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air. Also, take a look at the Spyderco Techno and the Nishijin Dragonfly (beautiful).

The air is a front runner because of the M4 steel, weight and good looks.

Me and the techno have a strange love hate relationship. You'd think it would be a home run on the titanium handles alone but I don't know

The CF and ZDP DF is very nice looking

You might check out the Emerson snubby/ CQC-14--short blade (2.5 I believe), full sized handle. I don't own one of those, but have many Emersons, and I can recommend them.

I think I'm looking for a true low profile shortie. Full sized frame with short blade sounds like like a fun project for another time.

Think the Air is the front runner
