Looking for a nice pair of leather boots

You should definitely look into Red Wing boots. They're a bit pricey but they last forever. Mine have gone through a lot

two pairs of RM Williams-chocolate suede Craftsman & the classic Oxbloods
A pair of Gelert hiking boots(very comfy) which I purchased in UK for less than a 1/4 the cost of the Ecco Bio M hiking boots-this pair is the replacement pair they sent me after my original pair failed dismally(for such costly boots).
cheers

Zamberlan makes a great boot with a Norwegian welt. A lot of SF use them in colder climates. Alpine style, but production boots.

I cant recomend Chippewa Boots enough. Best boots Ive ever had. I had the Black Melo-Veal boots. A little dressy for most but it worked for me.

If you have time to wait and have a few dollars to spend, I highly recommend Russell Moccasin Company:

They make everything to order from Motorcycle boots, to hiking, birdshooting, safari, minimalist, etc. as well as regular shoes. I have the Premium Birdshooters and Chukkas. I can't say enough good things about them--and I've gone through a lot of boots in the past.

These are made from a tracing of your foot, and the moccasin refers to the inner construction, not the outer appearance. I've tramped hundreds of miles through the New England woods with mine over more than 10 years. They are in great shape and all I do is keep them reasonably clean and coat them in Obenauf's each fall. Every part can be worked on, and of course they can be resoled. Apparently a pair of their French Veal from WWI turned up by a descendant of the original owner and Russell was able to restore them!

I absolutely love my Filson Uplander Chukka's.
And they're on sale now you lucky Dawg.

They only took a little time to break in, but now it's like they were custom made for my feet.
They're made of the nicest, waxiest leather I've ever seen.
They're virtually waterproof, and they don't even have Gore Tex.
As an added bonus, they're super comfy to walk in.
The cork inner sole is very comfy too.
I'm about ready to have them resoled.
Don't think they'll ever wear out.
Oh, and BTW, Whites are nice too.
I'm saving up for a pair right now.

out of all the brands mentions ive only ever heard of red wing lol, ive been wearing the same 6in timberland pros for the past 2 years almost daily, i love them. still extremely comfy i am considering buy a pair to keep clean and one to work it. you can get them for around 120 usd

I love my alico summits. they are nice full grain Italian made boots with vibram outsoles and norewigan welt construction. I use and abuse them and all it takes to make em look like new is a little bee's wax/ Sno seal.
I have dropped hair shavin sharp knives on them and they barely show and scratches. they are seriously tanks of boots.
only downside is I think they are like 250 retail but I found them on sale for 150. super good deal at that price and they will last forever!

The best bang on the buck is this for me

I am currently considering a pair of J.B Hill custom Cowboy boots. They are expensive a cheap pair is a grand and they go all the way to six grand but you get what you pay for and you are only alive once. One of the true pleasures in life is a custom made pair of boots.

I will tell you before then the 6 inches would start to fatigue meafter half an hour of walking, after then i can walk 5+ hours without even noticing they are there...

I have worn Redwings for my work boots for years and years. Then I bought a pair of Thorogoods. No comparison. The Redwings held up just fine although the last couple of pairs are just not the same quality and supposedly they are those still made in the US. But the Thorogood's are far and away nicer boots, more comfortable plus they are American made!

I love my Thorogoods....

I am a boot nut! I have more boots than shoes. Love em. Tony Lamas, Justin you name it I got it. This Christmas my wife got me a Georgia Boot G5423. In the past my wife knows better than to try to please me with shoe wear. I'm very fussy and it doesn't usually pan out. In fact I only buy shoes personally and never through the net but violating all past discussions and disregarding her batting average she did it anyway and you know what? Nicest pair of boots I've ever worn! Put them on and from day one its like they meld to your foot! No wear in , no break in really to speak of just put em on and go. I love em! Highly recommend!

These are definitely the most comfortable boots I own - Filson Uplander boot, bought about 5 years ago on the big auction site. They were NIB factory seconds. Got them for about a hundred bucks, and I couldn't find a thing wrong with them. Stiff at first, but once the footbed is broken in they're great. The leather is nice and thick. I use 'em for everything, from chainsaw work and splitting firewood to hikes in the woods and around town. They probably look nicer in the photo than in real life b/c they just got a coat of boot oil and obenaufs. Throw a new pair of insoles in about every year and they're good to go!

I've been in either work boots or duty boots for the past 25 years and I urge you to consider a hiking boot. Check out Asolo and Keen hikers and you'll never look back. Like walking on a cloud

I've had my eye on the Keen Tacoma. Very cool boot. Just hate ordering boots on line.

I have been really liking my redwing iron rangers. Real tough boot but have a lot of style too. I get a ton of compliments. They do take about a week to break in, but once they do they are amazing. They are a heavy boot though because they have really solid thick leather.
