Looking for a pocket scalpel.

How about the Spyderco Calypso??

I had one in burgundy frn and it was the best pocket slicer I had.

Unfortunately I had to sell it for funds. :/

I've never used a knife that sliced better than an Opinel. I believe you can get one for under $150 if you shop around. :D

Swiss Army Knives aren't bad slicers either. And they're available in a practically infinite combination of sizes, materials, and blade choices.

I've already got an Opinel, and like it. Absolutely beautiful blade geometry. Unfortunately in Singapore it seems to be rather stiff...the wood may be swelling. I'm currently stuck on the Spyderco Stretch or Gayle Bradley. Carbon steel in the Opinel has served me well, so I'm optimistic for M4. Yet the Stretch looks nicer.

The Stretch is an excellent slicer. It's got a nice thin grind and a good distal taper, slicing performance is greatly improved by reducing the edge bevels and giving a good microbevel as well.

I'd also recommend a look at the Benchmade 530. It's a very thin blade that slices well but has a handle that is less than optimal.

Overall I think it's hard to approach the SAK slice-ability. Those knives are not only ground thin but they're not very wide (spine to edge) so there's less blade dragging through the material you're cutting.

You can find Fallkniven TK3 for that price and a U2 for half of that. Extremely sharp. Terrific steel. Sheep friendly. Stunning fit and finish.
