Looking for a real fast paced, excellent book on post apocolypse survival or zombies

Didn't know there were books available on this. Is Omega Man the book the classic movie with Charleton Heston was based on?

MT - I goofed and feel like an idiot. Omega Man (the Charlton Heston movie) was based on "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson. Sorry for the misinformation.

No problem Thanks for the update. I really enjoyed I am Legend

The best zombie fiction is World War Z. Funny, because one of the worst is Zombie Survival Guide by the same author, Max Brooks (son of Mel).

Close second, Morningstar Strain Trilogy. I was surprised at just how good it is. ZA Recht died during book three and a ghost writer finished the novel.

Sticking with zombie apocalypse, another good one is Rise Again (Ben Tripp), different, but good.

The Road is okay, better than the movie, but damn.

Stay away from Brian Keene. Terrible interpretation of zombies.

Stay away from any book reviews by willydigger. Good and Bad are ultimate and factual statements. There are qualities that can be defined scientifically that make a book good or bad. You may not have like "The Zombie Survival Guide", but that doesn't mean it is a factually bad book. Likewise, you may have liked "World War Z", but it certainly isn't the greatest piece of zombie fiction ever created. Matheson is a far better writer than Brooks and "I Am Legend" is a far better-factually and scientifically speaking, of course-book than "World War Z".

Try:
Craig DiLouie's The Infection and Tooth and Nail.
David Moody's Hate series and Autumn series.
Day By Day Armageddon and the sequel Beyond Exile by JL Bourne.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I read it in an afternoon, awesome book like all of Mccarthy's work.

I saw the movie of the road (dont know if it is anything like the book) and it made feel terrible. Never want to see it again.

The canticle for leibowitz is one of the strangest books i have ever read but it is interesting.

Season 4 finale of Babylon 5, "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars," included an homage to A Canticle for Leibowitz. In 3262 AD, two monks examine a hand-illuminated codex of their mythologized version of Babylon 5.

Patriots, by James Wesley Rawles. Great book that deals with a socioeconomic collapse of the US. I learned a lot reading it.

Damnation Alley by Roger Zelazny is a good post-apocalyptic read.

Great book! I love Zelazny. It's a real shame that he died before he finished the Amber chronicles.

Another good book about the end times is Earth Abides. It's go no zombies, but it's a good realistic book. Keep in mind, it was written pre-WWII

I'm having a great time with all this. So far I got Zombie Survival guide, and a couple others. I don't specialize in just Zombies. Love good, fast paced. post apocalypse type stuff. What appeals to me is people surviving against all odds, good people working together to help each other.
