Looking for a similar blade to a Spyderco Delica?

The boker patriot is the closest thing I've seen to a delica. Even comes in the same color, and about the same price. Cool knife

I agree, it looks great. Even has a steel upgrade, made in USA! Unfortunately the OP states that the delica's "frn leaves a lot to be desired". Same issue with the patriot. OP might have other issues but we will never know if he gives no input.

If I (or he) responded to all of the suggestions that were outside of the OPs realm it would be a much longer thread. I'll take a shot at this one though since CS has come up multiple times (not picking on you jazub). If the Native 5 was over kill for him, and as he states in the OP "the back lock was a bit too stiff for me", then I think the recon 1 or any tri-ad lock old or new will be overkill and too tough for him. I find the Native being a problem sort of wierd as my 10 year old daughter has no problems with hers. Perhaps it was a bad example

People are just stabbing in the dark JD and you aren't giving much feedback. If you really want help with this it would sure be nice of you to narrow down some suggestions if you know of some....

I do find the native 5 to have a very stiff backlock compared to others I've used. My opinion is that it make it feel more secure, and I actually like it. Not impossible to press but it does create some drag on the blade when opening or closing that I haven't experienced with other. I haven't owned a triad lock knife but I do feel like this was something that initially turned me off to a lawman or code 4 (can't remember which) when I was in a shop and ended waiting for a new shipment of mini-grips instead.

As far as his requirement for a "beefed up delica," I feel that's exactly what the native 5 is, especially the LW (G10 version is almost excessively overbuilt for EDC). Does seem like we've thrown a lot of suggestions out there and none have been acknowledged as being close what is being looked for other what isn't what is being looked for. Want to help the guy but it's getting hard to figure out exactly what is being looked for... but then again, maybe he's not sure either which I completely understand.

Exactly this. The native is a beefed up delica. If a back lock has ever been too stiff or not stiff enough I have taken them apart and bent the spring. Did this exact thing on the first run of AUS8 CS Recon 1. The second version with the upgraded steel didn't need it.

Oh well.......

The Benchmade Mini Grip has been recommended a few times, I'd say it's worth checking out. I have a mini grip and a delica. I would say the plastic handles are pretty comparable to the Delica's. In researching a full size griptillian, I've come to learn that it does not have a full length steel frame inside the plastic. The mini grip does though. Because of that, it has a nice solidity to it (at least IMO).

It definitely fits differently in the hands though. The handles are more rounded, but shorter than that of the delica. Really easy to get a good grip though, the scales are nicely grippy.

I'm a big fan of the mini grip. I like how it's far more compact in the pocket. The delica is really tall when closed - that blade and spidey hole stick way out above the FRN scales. The mini grip doesn't have that, just a bit of blade exposed when closed so you can get to the thumb stud. I find that the mini grip will settle into the corner of my pocket far nicer than the delica.
