Looking for a small pocket knife

IMO, for the price, for the durability, for the great warranty, for a great fit
and all that it comes with I'd suggest a One Hand Trekker from Victorinox.

The guy writes "I am looking for a small, light pocketable knife for opening mail, cutting open taped boxes and the like" and you recommend a OHT?!

Yep, I would say the sak OHT is a very good choice.
Also, an opinel#8 or a sak standard issue, these are all very well priced as well.
I only have a spyderco jester but it's great, I will get a bigger one sometime.

Theres an opinel thread floating around here with lots of pics. The number 8 is around 10 bucks.

Spyderco Dragonfly is a useful cutter but the scales are not the most appealing(that includes the slippery stainless ones too!)

Kershaw Scallion could be an answer.

Böker Wharcom offers a lot in a small package.

On a more Old School front W.R.CASE'S Mini Copperlock is an excellent slim lockback with a variety of scales.

Schrade (USA) or China offer a small lockback Old Timer 3OT about 3" closed and a useful pocket blade, no clip though but slim and light yet tough.

Opinel's come in small sizes too and in carbon or stainless. They offer African Hardwoods like Bubinga for a touch of class. Look at their No.6 and 7 sizes.

take a look at the Spyderco Captain ( a really stout small knife) or the Kershaw min-cyclone (1635) - a really comfortable slim design.

I don't mean to threadjack, but would you mind posting pics of the Captain in hand? Neat looking knife, but I always thought it was more medium sized than small.

Take a look at the Camillus Sizzle. AUS-8 2.5 inch blade,Zytel handle, very light to carry.Try to get the C2314B,it is plain edge with a satin finish.Stay away from the newer ones with 440 steel. It will open a lot of envelopes.AO and razor sharp out of the box.

Boker Trance , very economical , very compact , Boker Subcom or Wharcom . Spyderco Dragonfly , or Delica . Victorinox waiter , or Lumberjack . List is almost endless .

he also said;
I could go a bit bigger but probably not smaller. I dont want a keychain knife. I would like something a little substantial.

the OHT is not to small, not to big, fits in your pocket nice and has many features like opening with one hand easily.
I use it for what he wants all the time, do you even have one??

do you think that is too big??
Does that make sense to you?:jerkit:

Gle-ru
There is also the benchmite william and henry blue line type. seem the same of the one you posted but has 154 cm steel and titanium blue handle. I wear it most time. Is very light, enaught sheeple friendly, and stay well-locked in the pocket so it should bypass low about one hand opening. But if you attach a linard or a flash-light to the handle hole You can be able to open it with a single snap while pressing the handle-button.

+1 to the Boker Wharcom and the Spyderco Spin. Both small, light, strong, and great ergonomics with high-quality steel that's easy to sharpen. The thin blade profiles help them zip through cardboard without binding.

Any of the sodbusters by Boker, Case etc. I think you can get a case CV sodbuster for under $30 that you can pass down to your kids.

I have a Victorinox Adventurer (which I believe is a mite lighter than the OHT) and, yeah, I definitely believe it's too big to fit the original poster's criteria. For that, I might recommend a Victorinox 84mm Tourist.
