Looking for a small pocket knife

A Spyderco Calypso Jnr and Fallkniven U2 are both excellent choices to do the chores you need.

Have you considered a small fixed blade knife? It appears that our daily cutting needs are similar, and here's what I carry:

It's the AG Russell Hunters Scalpel. Thumb release locking sheath. Lanyard. AUS8 steel. Weight is 0.8 oz. It's currently discontinued, but there's a new version supposed to be released soon with a redesigned handle and steel upgrade.

Good Luck deciding!

I definitely feel the OHT fits his criteria and more.
I definitely believe you have a right to your opinions and suggestions.
Do you mind if I have my own?

no opinion for you, one year! :D

(Yes I'm kidding.)

The Lava is very nice looking. The Spyderco Dragonfly is also nice and lightweight, but I don't think the OP wanted to go under 2 1/2 inches for the blade.

I'd take a look at the Benchmite II and the Boker Subcom also.

I want to thank everyone for the great suggestions and especially to those who uploaded the fantastic pictures. They all look good. Its hard to choose between all the outstanding knives suggested. I think its going to be the Boker SubClaw. I have a larger Case slipjoint that features a hawkbill and a standard blade and I like what the hawkbill can do. I like the idea of being able to use the subclaw as a money clip also.

you could always try a case caliber, about same size around $12 light and tough for what your needs are, and USA made

A kershaw Scallion is the perfect size for pocket carry, not too big not too small. About $30.00 at Wally World
It's a sharp little knife with a flipper; and the new version has a frame lock which is more than strong enough for such a little knife. Not a scary looking knife at all so people wont get all bent when you use it. Comes in different colors too.
Try it...... you'll like it.

Spyderco Dragonfly-light blade cuts great, new styles
Spyderco Kiwi- fits hand well, basically a folding heavy razor
Benchmite-nice blade in a tiny package

Spyderco knives always cut bigger than they pack, so to speak. These three alternate in my work EDC and my use description sounds just like your requirements. Good luck, have fun! No bad choices so far, just personal preference.

Lots of options, Remington R5 or similar Camillus branded. Toothpick from a numerous manufacturers, I have two bladed toothpick from Case that I carry a lot, but it is not a lockblade.

If you want a true lightwieght knife , score yourself a CRKT Contrail , if you look enough there was a place selling them quite cheap considering the quality of this wonderful little knife.

They'll keep going homh! you know like when a dog humps your leg and you push him off and he still pumps air? their like that :D
KnifeNuts we are ;)

I can vouch for the subclaw. I just got one yesterday & I'm really pleased with it. It took a little tweaking to get the framelock the way I like it (I'm really particular w/ frame & liner locks - I often tweak them to get a really solid lockup). It fits my hand really well, fits perfectly in my jeans watch pocket & is scalpel sharp.

Good choice.
How easy is a hawkbill to sharpen?

Also the SubComs, because of their square and flat profile, it does not eye scan like a knife.
