Hello everybody

Need help to find a "tactical" Bowie like the Busses, but with a better penetrating tip
and a good protecting guard - blade length around 10 inches.
Don´t have much choice here in Germany.

Thanks in advance

Ontario Marine Raider Bowie (SP10?).

Its a beast, but it fits the description you just mentioned :).

Hello

I have just found the Ontario's SP18 Frontiersman (Bagwell Hell's Belle design), blade 11 1/8 inches; does anyone have experience with this knife? Don´t know, whether I can get it in Germany.

I have an SP10. It is a winner. Only thing, i wish it was a full width tang. It IS a full tang, just not full width. I have pounded the snot outta mine & no issues. 1/4" thick 1095 with a wicked sharp point, it's like a needle. Yet when i was batoning on it, it held up fine. Sheath is not tactical at all. Plan on a custom sheath for almost any knife you buy. Tactical means many things to many people. Tactical to me means able to save your life regardless of the enviroment. To me it means at least 1/4" thick blade, (1095 is good stuff), & a sheath that you can deploy the knife from with one swift pull, with one hand (no straps or snaps holding it in) & will keep it in the sheath with no rattles, yet will NOT come out unless you want it to. You can certainly buy a better knife, but for $50 you don't have to be so concerned about it vs a $500-1000 one.

Look into Tops knives, they have tons of blade configurations and are well made (if not a bit pricey). Good luck!

Perhaps the Regulator Bowie by Scrapyard, a brother company of Busse. Can be had on the exchange for around 130 bucks or so. .333 inches thick too.

My new Tops blade.

Cool blade man! I've always wondered when I see this configuration, why the blade starts out straight and then gets the really big size up toward the front. Is it to add weight for chopping?

I see the choils below the thinner portion and jimping in back of the handle and above the choils, so it must have a couple of good gripping portions to eh? :)

This review is over in the Review subforum.

I picked up another TOPS knife a couple of months ago. I wanted it for a project I was working on, but thought I should go ahead and do a review on it too.

It’s the new USMC Combat Knife.

Maybe you missed this Busse.

Named for both its obvious lineage to the Battle Mistress and the Pappy VanWinkle I had in my glass when we chose this as our first project for the new Custom Shop Line. . .

The Busse Custom Shop is proud to introduce the "Battle Pappy".

The Battle Pappy has a Coffin shaped handle cut from a single block of approx. 1" thick canvas micarta. It also features a full-height flat grind, full-length hidden tang, and two lash down holes in the guard!!!
