Cool blade man! I've always wondered when I see this configuration, why the blade starts out straight and then gets the really big size up toward the front. Is it to add weight for chopping?

I see the choils below the thinner portion and jimping in back of the handle and above the choils, so it must have a couple of good gripping portions to eh? :)

I really love it. You can have/use 3 distinct hand positions for different chores & that curve on top is the perfect thumb rest when choking up for finer work. 1/4" thick 1095 goodness.

3 hand positions! Very cool blade and a nice score.

that team gemini variant is amazing. iv been thinking about sending my boss jack cg off for a swedged clipt point

I think you need something a bit more slinky than those brutes...

Maker is Stuart Smith. Blade is Saben Silver steel with gun black finish, handle is African Blackwood. OAL is 32cm, Blade length is 19cms.

When I look at a picture such as this, I often run my fingers through my goatee, ponder for a moment, and then decide that my life is not complete, but it will be; after I purchase one.

The new age offspring of a Hudson bay camp knife and a bowie with a long keen clip point.

I have no idea why I find that thing the least bit interesting but it is oddly appealing.

The Bark River Rogue is a bowie styled knife that I wish I had bought many times over. I love the styling of it. It had the Natchez styling with a coffin handle, full tang, and I believe A2 steel. I though I saw where Bark River is doing another Rogue, perhaps the Rogue II??

Hello

I have just found the Ontario's SP18 Frontiersman (Bagwell Hell's Belle design), blade 11 1/8 inches; does anyone have experience with this knife? Don´t know, whether I can get it in Germany.

The Frontiersman is a pretty nice knife, but I wouldn't call it a "tactical" bowie. It's long, somewhat thin stock, quick in hand, but not really suited to any kind of chopping. I think they are out of production and when I have seen them on ebay, they are selling for about double their original cost.

I think the previously mentioned Ontario Marine Raider (also out of production, I think) would get my vote, especially if you are on a budget. Their old SP6 is also worth a look, if you are interested in a shorter blade. (8 inches).

I am not really all that thrilled with the Spec Plus Gen 2 stuff. I would suggest if Ontario looks good to you, try to stick with the older models.

I'd go the the SM3 Natchez Bowie by cold steel or the SK-5 version, but I'd don't even want to think how many euros that would be.
Good luck! Prost!

Discontinued, has become too expensive for what it is. I also heard it has a very thin floppy blade.

What are you looking for when you say "tactical"? If you mean a fighting knife, the frontiersman would be a good choice if you can find one with one caveat - the guard is one piece with the handle and is therefor made of kraton and wouldn't be much use stopping another blade. if you really mean a general use camp type knife, I'd look somewhere else. If you are looking for a fighting bowie and can't find a frontiersman - it has been discontinued for at least a couple of years - I'd look for a Cold Steel Laredo or Natchez bowie,
