Looking for a titanium frame lock for $200 or less.

I don't have one... but I want more people to try them before I decide to buy or not...:

Combatitive Edge M1

Funny you mentioned the m1 folder,i bought one about 3 weeks ago, its great. was 170.00.it carries flat,so you dont feel it like a lump in your pocket, very sharp edge, great blade shape, about 3 3/4" blade, great lockup & blade centering,& the pocket clip is deep carry & reversable.good g10 grip on opposite side.It has a flipper but needs a flick to get it going, thumb studs seem to work better. ive cut rubber tubing & a few other things, cuts great.

The Sage II is smooth, easy to open, easy to close, feels like it melted into your hand. I have costlier knives but they don't quite hit all the buttons the Sage II does.

Sage 2 tough, flawless f&f, great ergos, great ht, great pocket clip, large openeing hole. You can find them for $140 at one retailer. PM or email if you want one of the shops names.

look at the 635 mini-skirmish they are disco'd but a great knife and one my favs.

Also the tiJYD is awesome. Most of the blems I have seen I can't tell that they are.

I know i'm not going to be the only one who says this... Save that $200 and get one big step closer to a Sebenza.

Not trying to be a jerk here ( or start an inflated and boring discussion that's been done to death ) but , why ? Seriously.. There are a lot of good Ti framelocks out there why settle for one brand.

Maybe the OP doesnt not like the sterile ( and IMO rather boring ) look of the Sebenza, maybe he wants something with more flair or pizzaz. Maybe he does want a Sebenza afterall !

My point is the Sebenza is not the end all be all for everyone just like BMW doesn't do it for every driver.

I'm going to actually put another vote for Benchmade's upcoming 755.

Wow, a lot of Sage 2 fan. If it's anywhere close to the quality of my Paramilitary, it must be amazing.

I'm not a big fan of the JYDs blade shape. It may work well, bt I don't think I would ever enjoy looking at it, which is a shame because the handle is awesome. That Benchmade that is coming out looks pretty cool, but it might be a bit too chunky. I'll do a little research. That Chokwe is pretty sweet looking too.

I was seriously considering a Sebenza for a long time, but I think I would just be too worried about having it in my pocket all the time. i wouldn't want to lose it. The Ti military is just too big I think. Even though I'm looking at the LFti. Plus, I already have a Para that I love. The A.G. Russell and The Mini Skirmish are a little too funky looking for my tastes.

Buck TNT, if you can find one,
Buck Wimea
Benchmade Mini Skirmish
Kershaw JYD II SG2 Ti (One of my favorites)

I have a Spyderco Sage 2, which is excellent and cost me about $160. It's made in Taiwan, but there's nothing wrong with the product IMO.

I have a Ti Military on the way, which cost me about $225 with a 3-week delivery, but I have seen them advertised for under $200. I haven't got my hands on it yet, so I can't vouch for it, but the G10 Military is excellent.

I also have a Large Sebenza 21, which cost as much as both of these knives, but I am not convinced that it's worth it, which is probably heresy. So far, my Sage seems to be a higher quality knife than my Sebenza, but this might be knife to knife variation or merely my naive perception, so no flames please.

Titanium framelocks are my favorite and I have acquired quite a few of them in the last 6 months. Out of the ones I own I'd say my two favorites are the Bradley Alias 1 and the Sage 2. The Sage 2 is just about the perfect EDC. The ergonomics on this baby are amazing, its ambidextrous with the spyder hole, the fit and finish is AMAZING! If I were to see this knife without any prior knowledge of it and guess its price due to its overall quality I would put it at around $300. Those Taiwanese really know what they're doing lately.

The Bradley Alias 1 is also a very nice knife. Not quite up the same level of fit and finish of the Sage 2 but it excells in other areas. I really like the blade shape and the heavily stonewashed finish. The lockbar is a great design and will never lockup passed 75% because of the step on the lockface. I have a custom made g10 scale on my alias and I really prefer the feel of it now. It did away with the thumb stud chamfer and it feels a lot better without it IMO. It also made it a lot lighter and it just disappears in your pocket. For how light this knife is you sure get a heck of a lot of cutting power.

Another one you should look into before they're all gone is the Kershaw Tyrade Ti. If you look around you should be able to find one of these at around $180 and it is a steal! By far the thickest titanium framelock I own with excellent steels on both the cutting edge of the blade and the spine. The carbon fiber overlays really proportion the knife well and it feels awesome in the hand. Overall a very tough knife that I don't hear much about anymore but is a supreme example of what production knives are capable of. Good luck.

OP has to settle on one knife regardless of what it is. If he had unlimited funds he would just go and buy everything he was interested in and resell what he didnt like.

No where in that post did he say "sebenza is best nothing else is good" or anything to that effect.

The BM755 seems like an interesting choice, if you like short blades. A used Strider PT might be good too. IMHO though something like the PT is a better choice because it's a bit lighter than a full Ti / metal handled knife and offers a better tactile interface, again IMO.

As for the small sebenza / vs sage II argument, I would go for the sebenza because spyderco ergos dont really do it for me.

I'll second the Buck Mayo and Waimea

Second for the Buck ideas.

Or, if you want large the Skirmish is a great knife also. Had one, but was too big for my needs.

Really would like to try out the buck mayo... looks really good for the money.. hate smooth handles though..

+1 on kershawguy though.. awesome guy

If you decide to get one - please post some sort of review.

I've been looking at these - but I am worried that the knife overall is too small for me.

I have one ordered. I will try to put something up as soon as it comes in. Hopefully not too much longer.

ive always liked my bradley alias and dont think you could go wrong there. its actually been driving me a little mad this week because ive seemed to have misplaced it (which ive never done with a knive) so ive been looking everywhere for it and if i dont find it soon i think ill order another 1...

I wasn't referring to the OP.... ;)
