i mean come on, you guys have to admit, your weirdos. theres nothing wrong with that, some guys are into guns, some guys are into cars, your just into knives.

there are many very good quality commercially made knives out there. i dont need a "busse" cause hes a "knife celebrity" and does make good knives.

i need a hunk of metal that is affordable, sleek, and durable. i want to beat it on rocks and have it last a lifetime. i want to dig in the mud, dirt, sticks and rocks and still slice up a banana if need be. all with the tip of my blade still intact.

that tanto ka-bar is what im getting. if for some reason i cant or dont add the brass knuckles, its still the exact style of blade i want. so its a win/win for me either way.

spending thousands of dollars on hundreds of knives is fine if thats your thing, but not everyone is a weirdo about things like you are. im a weirdo on knives for a differenet reason, (i.e. symetrical etc.) im not going to be an enthusiasts like you guys, im a fly by night type of guy. ill stop in, learn what i need and be gone. all im asking for is some help from knowledgable people. not critisism because i want what i want.

so whats the best way to go about finding a smith that will and can mod handles like the one on the ka-bar?

Good Luck with all of that.

A number of people here have tried to tell You that you are barking up the Wrong Tree and you are not listening to any of them so You obviously know more about knives than most of the Folks here.

As I said --Good Luck with all of that.

and you guys keep talking about me making a pair of aluminum knuckles... how am i supposed to do that? im not smith. what should i do melt some tinfoil? i want this to be a solid piece of work and art (even though some of you refuse to admit it)

and how does all of that NOT match what a ka-bar is capable of? come on man, just admit it.

Okay, the Ka Bar is a good knife. They make good knives. Not the absolute best, and you can get much better for the same price. However, not in the style you want. From your choices, it seems the KaBar is the best option. For the Knuckles I believe you are SOL.
Have Fun.

yeah the problems with me is the exact style i want. seems that particular one is only made by ka-bar. only other option is to get one specially made like it from a smith which would be nice, but not something im interested in doing if there is a cheaper but very good quality alternative already out there.

now i just gotta change the handle.

You obviously don't know what knives are for. If you want to beat on rocks get a hammer. If you want to dig in mud and dirt get a shovel.

ill stop in, learn what i need and be gone. all im asking for is some help from knowledgable people.

You haven't learned much so far. Like I said before some people are teasing you but many are trying to help but you are not listening to what they have to say if it differs with your opinion.

Have fun with the Kabar. Make sure you get the heat treated version.

Trust me on this one, there is virtually no knife you can smash rock with and still have no edge damage such as denting, chipping or rolling. Yes good knives do tend to last a lifetime if you properly take care of them and not abuse the living shit as you are planning on doing.

i mean im not going to try and chop rock for a salad. i just want a durable knife. and for some reason most of you have problems with admiting that ka-bar is perfect for my needs.

That mall ninja knife is NOT a quality knife, and will NOT last a lifetime!

*cough*troll*cough*

On the off chance you're not trolling (yeah right :p ), it's clear that there's no changing your mind. You want a cheap knife that looks like a United Cutlery POS, but performs like a Busse. As far as I know, no such production knife exists. A custom maker could probably make something close to what you want, but it would cost a lot more than $400.
I recommend that you get the Ka Bar. Who knows, maybe you can find a custom maker that'll stop laughing long enough to modify the handle for you ;) You can't beat it on rocks and have it last a lifetime, but you can't always have your cake and eat it too you know :)

Watching NASCAR between posts, there was in incident that may be the final solution. How about a cordless sawzall? Knuckle guard, a multitude of serrated edges and the blades are interchangable. Don't worry about a broken tip.

) No person shall...
(3) Manufacture, possess for sale, sell, or furnish to any person other than a law enforcement agency for authorized use in police work, any brass knuckles, cestus, billy, blackjack, sandbag, switchblade knife, springblade knife, gravity knife, or similar weapon...

Quoted two things here, since it seems you missed them. One, I don't think you will find a smith to do this, it would be illegal, and they would be risking prosecution to fulfill your desires (even if done for free, it would be furnishing brass knuckles to a person that is not law enforcement).

This leaves you two choices, do it yourself (and assume liability under your state laws, that is the manufacture part), or get a decent knife (I have a soft spot for KA-BAR knives) and use it and enjoy it legally.

My recommendation, don't screw around with dangerous weapons laws. If you don't agree with them, work with your state government to change them, but don't break them, the result to you could destroy your life.

If you are a troll (not saying you are) this advice is given to all those who may be reading thinking "lay off him dude".

well i will still want to change the handle, even if its not going to be to a knuckle guard.

so who does handle mods on knives? how do i go about finding a smith to do it?

what exactly do i type in google?

Sorry, I don't have any enemies to recommend.

Ok what part of "IT DOESN'T EXIST AND NO KNIFEMAKER WORTH A CRAP WILL MAKE IT FOR YOU" don't you understand?!?

This place is full of people who may have started out just like you, i.e. not knowing what a legal, quality blade really is. The difference is that when the whole community told them the uber-cool-death-dealing-brass-knuckled-ninja-tastic-deanimator-2000 was NOT what they should spend their money on, they LISTENED.

What you are saying is, "I want an illegal piece of crap!" Then everyone says, "I don't think you should get an illegal piece of crap." Then you say, "Waaaaaaaahhhhhh, but I really want an illegal piece of crap!!"

The address bar at the top of your screen does NOT say www.weaklousydangerousillegalbladeforums.com. Open your ears and your mind and begin the learning process.

I'm a Busse fan, and I highly recommend them as hard-use blades. If you want something that looks cool and will actually DO some of the things you think your knife should do, go to www.bussecombat.com and LOOK at the knife being offered right now. 200 bucks will buy you a badass blade that will actually be worth more than you pay for it someday. Not to mention the friends you will make as you participate within a very "special" :p community of people.

That's my advice, do as you wish.
