Quoting Cartophilis, My opinion is that the paint will not last in the field. The duracoat i have had experience with was on guns and was baked on. But I'm not that familiar with it enough to say a 2 week cure wouldn't be durable, but the baked on is.
The product you have experience with was most likely not Duracoat but another heat cured coating (around 300 degrees).We can't use that on kydex or nylon without making a mess of the sheath. Duracaot's durability will depend on the objects use. If your equipment is going to be dragged across the ground, no coating will hold up. I have been coating equipment for over fifteen years and have used all kinds of media for the coating, including heat cured. I have been using Duracoat for the last five years and no one has complained about it wearing prematurely.
