Looking for first Busse

I only have two pieces of Infi, both are TGLB's...Maybe I will grab an ASHBM before thier gone but I'm hoping for the Boss Man to drop some new Infi soon. Have some SR101 as well the Rodent Solution, 1111, and a Ratmandu on they way. Even with 5 total Busse and Kin I still know I want/need more.

I really like the NMSFNO look. It was a little bigger than I was after. The INFIDU is really nice, I just wish it was a tad bigger. Is there a comparable version about 1.5 to 2 inches longer and in .25 thickness?

I need to see when the show is here in Atlanta. I guess I need to go look before dropping this kind of $. I am in no hurry, and there are lots of things I need before this, but window shopping is fun.

How well will INFI strike on a firesteel? I shave heard mixed things there.

I know this is a boring answer and a hard one to follow, but I would wait a bit until the shop announces their next production run of knives. This will be cheaper and will give you the chance to pick the combination you want.

I was in your shoes. I was very overwhelmed and couldn't figure out all the acronyms but after a fairly short time in this subforum i began to catch on. I went with the tglb as my first Busse. Its a shame that its no longer available from the site but they can still be found on the exchange. I'm also very confident, like others have already said, that I would have been happy with a number of Busse blades. You really cant go wrong. There are multiple knives for every purpose and preference! Good luck!

Just call the shop and say "I'd like to place an order for a Basic 13 Please" and tell us what they say.

I wonder if Jerry has "first Busse" in his museum or if he knows who does have it... titles can be so much fun to ponder! ;)

For a first that you won't want to part with, I suggest the Basic 8 (lightest for wearing all day), NMSFNO (one of the most useful classic designs) or a Team Gemini (possibly one of the most unique looking as well as famous 8" blades).

"first Busse"....ya got me to thinking about that.....names that come to mind as to who might have it (if not Jerry) "Skunk" "Porkeson" "Chuck" all good possibilities...

What Tim pointed out are 3 excellent choices and someone else mentioned the NMSFNO...I have all 3 of the ones named above and all outstanding and each a little different...The B-8 is MOST EXCELLENT...

The 13asic 13 is a blade not yet created....YET! The Basic line is all one would really need once you find the size you prefer.

But a guy can do pretty good buying and selling. The exchange has been very good to me.

Ya... It's not like you can really go wrong buying any Busse.... just NOT FROM EBAY! You might love it or it could just not fit your hand how you want. If its not a fit, throw it up on the exchange and find something that does fit!!

Look for the Satin Jack Tac.

Also look at the original SFNO. It is 1" shorter than the NMSFNO.

best bang for your buck in my opinion is going to be a RMD in INFI. several in the BIG finish have been hitting the exchange at a good and fair price of just over $300. my personal favorite Busse in this size range is the SFNO, if you get lucky you may find one for under $500. The Ash-1 and TGLB are also great knives and popular choices.

Is there someplace that lists all of the specs? I am having a hard time finding them listed anywhere for the discontinued models.

Thanks for all for the suggestions.

Also, is there a difference between an INFIDU and a RMD in INFI?

Thanks again.

Lots of great suggestions given here. Cant go wrong with any of them. Good luck with your quest.

Don't be afraid to go big! Get a battle mistress while they are available directly from Busse. You're going to want one at some point and then you will pay more for it. If you really don't want one, you can't go wrong with an INFIdu or a regular ratmandu from the Swamp.

I agree, the ASHBM was my first Busse. I am SO glad I got one. It is as close to perfect as I have ever seen.
