Looking for first Busse

I really like the NMSFNO look. It was a little bigger than I was after. The INFIDU is really nice, I just wish it was a tad bigger. Is there a comparable version about 1.5 to 2 inches longer and in .25 thickness?

You describing the Beefmandu, but it was only offered in the very excellent performing yet cost effective alternative to INFI, which would be SR-101. I love mine.

There's also the SAR series... SAR 6, SAR 8... Or the elusive Sarge 7.

SAR 6

SAR 8...

The Mud Razor / Hell Razor...

The Satin Jack Tacs... I think the LEs were thicker at .25"
SJTAC CG & BATAC CG...

And of course, I have to give props to the SARSquatch .... My favorite in the size!!

I have only ever had an ESEE coated knife, and I just could not warm to the coating. That was one reason I was looking at the INFI.

That large version of the RMD looks perfect, but I am just not sure about another coated knife. The crinkle coat held too much dirt so it was a pain as a camp type knife. It also seemed to really drag when slicing.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The NMSFNO looks great, but I am just not sure I am ready to drop that coin on my first one. I keep thinking that the infidu is the way to start.

One thing I have noticed, in the pictures, the INFIDU looks like it has some fairly sharp edges in the coil/guard area. Do these create any hotspots with extended use? Are they more rounded than it looks in the pictures?

Thanks again for all of the help

The edges are usually slightly rounded. at least on all the swamp rats I have. It looks kinda sharp, but it doesn't really feel like it in person.

Just ordered an SOB today. If you know pistols, Busse must be the 1911 of knives. There are 2 types of gunowners, one who's got a 1911 and one who's about to get one. I think same thing applies to owning knives and a BUSSE. 😎

Hey FOO, did they ever make a Limited Edition SARSquach? Thats one heck of a knife. Is that satin or stripped? Tough lookin blade!

I pretty sure they were only released in black with black linen, tan with tan canvas or linen (I'm not sure which), and a 2008 Special Edition competition finish with black canvas like mine. The comp edge on mine is the absolute best convex edge I've seen out of the shop. Next best would be my comp finish BWM.

I am with Timmy again, have owned and fired many 1911's-best trigger ever, also the most jamming unreliable pistol ever made-if you have a professional armor to take care of it, it will work trouble free for about 150 rounds-otherwise buy a glock, hk, or something else-technology is a wonderful thing-I am all for tradition-but time to move on

Buy yourself an ash, it is one of, if not the most popular Model around, medium size-Blade length about 6.4 inches I believe-Good Luck

OMG!! That Top picture really shows just how awesome it is. WOW!! That edge is sweet.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I just had to reply to this. I have a stock Kimber Custom TLE II that I've owned for several years. I used it during an advanced pistol self defense class a couple of years ago where we fired over 500 rounds during the day. I never had one failure of any type during the day and the gun was not cleaned, lubed, or had any maintenance performed on it during the class. To me, that pretty darn "trouble free" for a lot more than 150 rounds and was done with a stock 1911 that hadn't been worked on by a "professional armorer"! You can have your "tuper ware" Glocks and other "high tech" new fangeled pistols - I'll keep my over-100-year-old-design 1911! It has proved itself throughout the past century that it works! Just my .02.
