Looking for first fixed blade EDC

I need some help looking for a EDC fixed blade. I want to try to move away from folders and try it out so I don't want to spend to much. Anything around 50 dollars would be awesome. I really like drop points and flat grinds but that doesn't have to be a requirement. I also needs to be around 6 inches in overall length, a little bit over is fine.

I also would like to know if you guys recommend carrying vertical on the hip or horizontal in a scout style. I want to be able to conceal it under a shirt pretty easily.

This is my first post on the forums so any support is well appreciated. Thanks!

Izula II
Becker BK24
Buck 113

You can get a leather pocket sheath and carry it in your back pocket for near full concealment..or, the Mini Fox River sheath. I think the MFR sheath is perfect.

Check out the condor line. They make blanks as well so you can customize. Or look at cold steel line. Great quality for the price. I've been on a condor fix for a bit. The blanks are less than 20 on the bay. Sometime less than 15 bones

Do you have any experience with the Izula II? I heard the coating on it make EDC tasks such as cutting card board harder than it should be.

Condor looks like it has a lot of great options, Ill take a look at them.

I've done the bushlore and woodlaw so far. For edc the mini bushlore may work or the wood law

Top is the woodlaw blank and bottom is what I have now

I wish there was something like the EK&T Companion with out such a steep price tag because that knife looks perfect for what I want.

Check out the Ka Bar Mark 1. Great knife. Not sure of your local carry laws, but it has a 5 inch blade making it just legal where I'm at.

Check out anza knives. They are made from old files and take a crazy sharp edge, they come with a leather sheath and are right around the size and price range you are looking for.

Becker BK14 or BK24. You can strip the coating off the BK14 with acetone or you can buy the BK24 which is D2 and isn't coated. I really like them.

The Izula is shorter if you want that. I find the Becker better suited to my needs. It didn't come with the scales.

The Swick is cool too and I carry one quite a bit but it is quirky and more expensive. The scales didn't come with it.

how do you like the coating on the izula? does it make slicing tasks harder?

ESEE's are very easy to modify. If you're worried about the coating, you can etch the logos and strip the blade. I've never had any issues with the coating…I've removed the coating because I simply prefer the look of the naked 1095. My Candiru, however, still has the coating and it performs just as well.

I dislike coatings. The Becker in the pic had a coating and I stripped it right away. The Izula has been used very little but I was gonna strip it. It has been backpacking a few times and I think it would cut better without the coating but it wouldn't be a big difference. Maybe more in your head than anything. The coating will help with corrosion as these are not stainless. I don't worry about that. I like the Becker better but the Esee has a way better sheath.

I have a BK11 and BK24 - and stripped the coatings. But I wish I had bought an Enzo Necker. You can get kits for the Necker at a good discount, but all you need to do is mount and sand the scales.

All great suggestions so far.
I love my Izula. The coating doesn't make a noticeable difference to me. But as mentioned, you can easily remove it or buy a non coated blade if you are worried about it. 1095 is a great steel, not a super steel but more than adequate.
Let us know what you end up getting!

Thanks everyone who helped me out! I'm probably going to end up going with a izula at some point, but I appreciate all the suggestions.
