looking for hardcore/bader111 grinder

OK, well I did it. Tim and I struck the deal so tomorrow morning my check goes in the mail and I become the proud owner of a 1-1/2 HP Variable Speed Bader BIII.

Three things did it for me, decision-wise. First is the ease of changing setups. Second is that it was designed by George Herron, whom I greatly admire. Third, Tim had it sitting there, and I've always been an impulse buyer (with my wife's permission of course

well jerry, c.l. looks like hardcore won out and the reason is that it would be three weeks to a month before the bader111 would be built and deliverd. my hardcore will be here tomorrow. funny how tireing my coote,s grinder has become since i made the first post on this thread LOL, also i was excepted for a booth at our santa monica arts festival in nov, so i have LOTS of work to do for that and fourth quarter. and it may change in the future but i preffer flat and convex so i wont be doing a lot of change over anyway!

Laurence,
I primarily do flat grinding as well, I have had the contact wheel on the machine only a couple of times since I got it. Let us know how it turns out.

You probably can't go wrong with either machine. I am going to post a thread asking folks for input for what they like best about the machines they have and what they like the least. Buying a machine and putting down you hard earned cash on it is not always an easy decision on which machine best suits your purpose.

well gents the hardcore showed up last evening and i got it up on a bench and mounted this morning, drum roll please!........... its fantastic! it tracks so smoothhhhhhh i ground about two hours straight with belt change,s and its so differnt from my old grinder that i am relearning finish work, and not tiring at all. and that variable speed! its so nice not to have to stop realine the pulleys for speed adjustment. i am very happy with thie unit,

Laurence,
Wait until you sharpen a blade using variable speed. You will never know how you did before.
