Just got my knife magazine yesterday and they had a small write up on the C111. Looking for more specs: blade size, length, liner thickness, total weight. Whether people who got to see one like it, that sort of thing.

Thanks,
Patrick

In addition to the information you would find in Catalog, I can add some pictures to help you to get a feeling about Captain's size, spacers, liners, blade, etc. I just got it today. It has very-very comfortable handle and silky smooth operation. At the same time it feels rock-solid. Great knife!

If you can wait til next week, I'll be posting a detailed review when I get mine in hand probably Thursday.

Thanks for the replies. I've gone thru some Sypderco Militaries before, really liked them, but a bit on the long size. I look forward to a review Scott.

Is there an estimate on when the regular run will be released? Also anyone know how to find more info on the designer Jason Breeden?

Thanks,
Patrick

There are pictures of the Captain I received yesterday. It is the regular run. As I understand, recently Spyderco began to ship to collectors first.

Wow, sure is a goofy looking knife. Yet possibly very practical.

My question will sound stupid, but what is practical use of this blade?
I am looking at this knife since pictures of Amsterdam show were posted and I cannot figure it out. What kind of cuts this knife can do better than Delica or Adventura?
Thank you for help.

The more I look at that knife the more I like it. I can imagine that front portion would be ideal for gouging out hollows in wood for spoons and such. It seems like it would cut like a deep belly blade for cutting leather or filter material and frees up the rest of the blade for the recurve. However I don't get the reason for that cutout on the spine. Maybe Sal can explain that one.

The recurve with the secondary tip would work great for draw cuts on things like cardboard or packaging tape. The broad front section gives you slicing belly that you might not have on other knives with this sort of recurve on the main length of the blade.

Hi all,
Just wanted to pop in a bit. This is the designer, Jason Breeden, if anyone has any questions ask away. I will help any way i can....

Hello there Jason,

Could you explain the cutout on the top of the blade? Is it to make the longer portion of the blade a better slicer?

Hi Jason,
I'm also curious about other knives that you've designed or made.

The Captain looks pretty good, another one to add to things that I carry around on a daily basis. I like to see, if possible, other things that you've made to get an idea of where this one came from.

Thanks,
Patrick

I'm curious about the spine too.

Man. The first time I saw this I thought "interesting, but not for me."

Second time I saw it, months later, I said "interesting"

And now that I see the size....I think I shold get one....I want it this week.

What steel, street price, etc? Seki or US?

I like the way it looks.

Oughta perform well in a woods enviroment (hunting, cutting sticks and rope and such, etc.).

Wish it were bigger, though. 4-inch would be nice.

I have no idea why I like this knife so much. It is entirely opposite of my regular taste, I'm very much a minimalist. But for seem reason, I cannot help but really really want one.
