Hey I appreciate the reply and the suggestions. I’m basically looking for a SHTF knife that I can either use tactically and possibly camping type stuff. In the picture you posted I’m really liking the bottom blade. That is a lot more my style. Could you tell me the specs of that knife? I think it will help give me more knowledge of what I’m looking for.Within your specs there is a huge range of options, so it would help if you are more specific.
What do you want to do with the knife ? Is it for the kitchen or a SHTF knife ? How high and thick should the blade be, how heavy, do you like a choil, any blade shape preference, Sabre vs flat vs hollow, do you like a guard, how do you want to carry, how big are your hands, etc.
For instance, these are two dramatically different 8“ blades. A little out of your budget, but not by much, point is they are like night and day, even though they are same blade length and maker:

Think about it this way: What would you tell a custom maker how your knife should look like ? Tell us, then we can help better than just throw a blade name at you.

That's what I gave for mine a few months ago at one of the 2 biggest gun parts and accessories stores in the U S. It is definitely an impressive hunk of steel.View attachment 2065029Hey I tried to message you but for some reason I can’t. Hey all I’m looking for a larger fixed blade knife. I would like the blade to between 6 1/2 inches to 8 inches. With CPM 3V steel or something equivalent. I have my eyes on some Cold Steel Recon Scouts in 3V for around $300. Is there a better option out there in that price range?
Side Note: I am also liking the look of the Chris Reeve Pacific in 4V but they seem to run at least $200 more. And not sure if the quality is worth the extra expense.
Any ideas will be helpful or if you have experienced the Cold Steel Recon scout would love you take on it.
This. Best 7" blade I've handled, for several reasons. That's a Busse DSF, Blade Length 8", Overall Length 13.75", 14.4oz, .230" INFI blade stock and 1.954" blade depth. To find one, watch the Exchange, it happens occasionally.
Busse is just now releasing a 7" Jack Tac, you can order a new one for ca. $400. It's a little deeper and shorter than the DSF above, and Saber ground. See also 7" Jack TAC
And for similiar money I can also recommend the CPK SDFK that was mentioned above. Also with a 7" blade, 0.25" thick.
I love the collectionThe Recon Scout fits nicely in the middle of the Trail Master and the SRK. It is a very nice all around blade and can do tasks above and below it’s weight class. It’s an underrated knife that would be a standout if it were not for its famous big and little brothers. I think anyone would be happy to own and use this blade!View attachment 2065148
Let me know if you ever want to let that SOD go.^^^ SYKCOs are great.

BTW, these are all around 6" blades, most (not all) close to budget, just to get some different flavors
