Looking For My First Fixed Blade

Thanks for all the responses and some great ideas. I was hoping to be pointed towards some Canadian makers though, this might have been overlooked by some in my post. The Bradford Gaurdian 3 is definitely along the lines of what I am looking for and sells here in Canada for about $160.00 so it also fits the budget. The Carothers Performance Knives 3" EDC from this post ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1417917-Five-small-3V-EDC-Knives-micarta-G10) looks just about perfect for me , it just seems like it might be very hard to get one. A little more background info, I have my own business installing hardwood floors and I would be lost without my knife at work. If you look at my picture, in the top left corner you will see a very used and abused Emerson Combat Karambit. The karambit probably isn't thought of as a "working" EDC but it has served me well as I use it for everything from cutting plastic banding straps off the boxes of wood, cutting underlayment paper, sharpening my pencil, prying staples out of the floor, a pry bar, opening tubes of construction adhesive etc. The wave feature makes the knife very useful as well, as this thing literally gets pulled out of my pocket over 100 times a day, so much so that after 8 years of use the liner lock is worn out to the point of needing to be replaced. My other Karambit has never cut anything and spends it's life on the nightstand beside my bed, just in case. Keep the ideas coming and pictures would be great too. Thanks

drop me a line if you want to get a CPK edc, I'll see what I can do for a fellow countryman

Thanks I appreciate that !! I live about 45 mins SE of Toronto. It took me a while to figure out that I can't message you as I am not a paid member. Hopefully posting my e-mail isn't breaking any rules, but if so someone let me know and I will remove this post, if the Mods don't catch it first.

Whats that knife on the top middle? Nice collection by the way.

HelixKing the knife in the top middle is a thorn in my side, it's actually a Microtech clone that I got stung on. It's a "decent" Chinese fake that I was misled to believe was real. Luckily I only paid $100 for it, so I keep it as a reminder to myself that a fool and his money are soon parted. Also I don't feel right trying to re-sell it even as a clone.

Grohmann Knives is based out of Nova Scotia and has a big following of people who really like their knives, pretty reasonable prices too.

I'll get at you if I have any luck

Have you considered TripleX knives (xxxknives.com)? They are located in Nova Scotia. I own one of their Bushman knives. And I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of their knives in a heartbeat. The Sitka Bushcrafter is on my short list for knives to purchase in the near future.
