Looking for something like the A.G. Russell 3in Carbon Fiber Lockback

Wow, great finds guys.

Thanks for these, I'm going to look more into both the pocket clip, as well as the Boker plus.

The clip case is sweet, I'll have to see if I can find a good seller for those. Initial looking around looks like it might cost as much as the knife :(. We'll see though.

About the boker. I've had the Exskelibur and Exskelimoor knives of that line recommended, but no one ever mentioned the Elegance. Which is more what I was looking for all along.

However, the AG russell has kinda grown on me, so now we'll see what happens. Thanks for showing me these though :).

I've heard responses from people about the smaller version, but no one with the one that I'm looking at. One of the things that was brought up was that the carbon fiber version might be thicker, because the scales are different material from the other versions (which are titanium). So I was asking about that. I do really appreciate the posts of Mike, who showed photos of the smaller versions thickness, because hopefully they'll be similar in thickness between sizes.
I have all three sizes of the AGR titanium pen/lockback knives, and have been using and carrying them in one capacity or another for several years. I went ahead and got the 3" Carbon Fiber lockback earlier this year, and have been carrying it for a couple of months now. Concerning the thickness of the titanium version vs the carbon fiber version of the knife, according to my cheap digital caliper, the ti AGR 3.0 is 4.6mm thick, and the CF knife is 4.7mm thick (at the scales, the screws stick out .1-.2mm farther). They are both incredibly lightweight, but holding both of them in my hands, the CF one is noticeably lighter, according to the AGR website, the CF weighs .7 oz and the titanium one weighs .9 oz.

THANK YOU for that information man. That was great, and exactly what I was looking for. I love how light weight this knife sounds. It sounds like a great formal-ish knife.

Right now I'm thinking this knife will go on my birthday list (coming up next month), and then we'll see where we are when the dust settles. I'm also looking for a nice william henry clip case at a decent price.

I also have the A.G. Russell 3" Carbon Fiber , in fact I wrote a nice glowing review of it along with some close up pics and comparisons ... Currently resting in my ' Knife Reviews ' file . As soon as I figure out BladeForums software Ill post it in the Reviews Forum. In the meantime, here's the short version : As mentioned, its a Very light and thin knife especially in the Carbon Fiber version, mine weighed in at a hair under 18 grams ( about the weight of 3 U.S. Quarters ) and is remarkably thin..The Carbon Fiber is the flat, smooth finish , but doesn't seem slippery. A leather 'pocket sheath' is included , ( no clip) . The VG-10 blade is scalpel sharp out of the box. I absolutely love the knife , In fact my only concern is that its SO light and thin, that it could easily slip out of my pocket un noticed, so I strongly advise that owners make use of the lanyard hole.

Whoa! thank you for the info man, and I love the photo. In my book, this is a great first post (Welcome to the forum man, you'll love it here:)).

I didn't know that the 3in Carbon Fiber version came with the leather case like the 3.0 Titanium one did. Sounds like I might be able to stick one of those pocket clips on the case, and then have my very own william henry - esque clip case. I'm getting more excited about it already :). When do you post the review, can you post a link to it here?

Thanks for the help all:).

The included leather case is made of a very soft leather. I can't see any way you could attach a clip to it and have it be usable. IMO you'd be better off with a McGizmo clip attached to a short lanyard with the other end attached to a belt loop or belt, or get a TEC Accessories P7 clip and clip it to the corner of your pocket.

Have you considered a suspension clip? They essentially clip to the top of your pocket and the knife hangs underneath them. If you google "P7 suspension clip" you'll understand what I mean. I use them all the time for Swiss Army Knives, and you can make one out of a picture hanger and a pair of pliers if you don't want to pay for one.

Thanks for the Welcome , I've been waiting for an opportunity to Jump In,, and this topic seemed about right ...
The title of the review is " The A.G. Russell 3" is a 10 " and It looks like its just a matter of Copying, Pasting and Photo linking it all together.. ..
One carry option for this series of knives I've been toying with is for the smaller 2.5 ( or the original Ultimate Pen Knife ) was to simply tuck the leather case into an unused card slot in my wallet with a drop of super glue, there seems to be enough friction in the full length leather slipcase, along with the tension from the card slot to keep the knife in place, although reaching for my wallet when I need a knife might take some getting used to...

I Really Like that P-7 Suspension Clip....yet another goodie added to the wish list

You mentioned liking the looks of William Henry knives .....
Boker has a line under their "Boker Plus" brand called "Elegance" , they're all executive sized knives , I picked this one for you because it's small , has a clip , thumb studs and a WH style button lock.

I have the blue titaniumiun model with carbon fiber , no clip. They're very well made ( solid titanium) and you can find them for around $50.

They also have one that is all carbon fiber with ti liners for a little less. AG has the carbon fiber and blue ti on his site, but not this one. You'll have to search for it.

I really like the looks of this one. Sophisticated and still functional.
