Looking for suggesions: Something like a Kershaw Skyline, but better.....

There's been more than a few requests for Kershaw to produce an upscale version of the brilliantly engineered Skyline. The Damascus version is Kershaw's only answer so far and it's out of stock.

I admire the Skyline for being light and thin AND for having a wider shaped blade.

The Speedform's blade, not so much.

I have yet to hear of a really good upscale, or just a slightly more upscale substitute, for the Skyline. I like the small Sebenza Insingo, but cost aside, it is not quite comparable in weight or blade width.

I suspect customers will beat a path to the door of whomever finds an answer.

+1 on the delica that or the stretch in zdp...if it has to have a thumb stud the benchmade shoki is really "fancy" looking with great steel

I like the slim profile and weight of the Skyline, but would like better thumbstuds, and a higher quality blade steel (something polished would be ideal but not a deal breaker).

Any suggestions?

buy the skyline and polish it :D regarding the steel I think the steel is just fine, I've had a beater for over 1 1/2 yrs and I promise you I have used it on everything under the sun..

I have a Skyline and I am having trouble with the liner lock. It seems to lock tight but a small amount of pressure on the back of the blade releases the lock so I can't recommend this knife. For a nice slicer I would recommend the Spyderco Centofante 3.

for the price, try the CRKT m16 01kz. slim profile, great edc. good edge retention, and VERY easy to sharpen. best of all on amazon these things go for half-nothing and is a knife that is (while a little threatening looking) still a great utility knife without breaking the bank.

Sorry, can't think of anything better for the price than a Skyline, except maybe the 1595G10.

frankly, I would go to a machinist or custom knifemaker and have them copy the G10 scales in titanium and do an exact copy of the blade in something like S90V. it may cost more than your budget, but you will get the knife that you love with the features you want.

Maybe you just got a bad one...:(

Same with me, I have a Rat-1 folder locks up way to the right (late), maybe its just a production thing 10% too left, 10% too right, 80% okay.

But it is too bad when yours is in the minority of bad ones...

Why not send it to Kershaw and test its widely-praised customer service?

Please let us know the results.

If ZT/Kershaw would hurry up on the ZT 780 that could be a nice option. Made me think of a Skyline on steroids.

If you can do without thumbstuds i'd recommend trying the spyderco lum tanto sprint. It is still readily available, and it is thin, light, and comes with VG10.

i polished the blade and liner of my skyline with no sanding at all. both polished up great.
