Looking to buy a Spyderco from Amazon, how do i tell if its real?

I've bought a ton of stuff from amazon including knives. Never had a problem. Make sure you buy from amazon itself not a 3rd party seller. I think that's where most people have an issue. Amazons return policy is awesome if you do somehow have an issue.

I agree.
However I have tried 3rd party sellers a few times when an item was not available direct from Amazon and have been pleasantly surprised. Most had zero problems.
Two orders had problems and both were resolved quickly.
I still almost always avoid third party for knives; too many great dealers I'm familiar with to mess with one I don't know. The Amazon third party prices are usually not that great.
One of my problem orders was a knife. Just a $22 item, so I took a chance. Week after it was listed as shipped there was no tracking update. Contacted the seller and he surprised me by immediately recognizing it must have been lost and offered 3 options including a full refund, which he posted to my account within an hour.

Apparently Amazon holds the other vendors to a pretty high standard. If one has good feedback and has been on Amazon for a decent period of time I'm less reluctant to use them.
Still sticking with only Amazon or my list of trusted dealers for knives though.

Amazon usually has good prices and you can get free shipping or free 2 day shipping with Prime. I tend to buy there because I have a Prime membership. Sometimes the 2 day shipping is actually next day if the warehouse is fairly close. The ONLY knife I had an issue with was one that was an Amazon "warehouse" deal, which means someone purchased an item and returned it. I know that someone purchased the Gayle Bradley and returned it because the grind is less than ideal, but I got it for $108 shipped. Considering the GB goes for $160+ on a lot of sites I'm pleased since I bought it as a user.

The biggest problem with Amazon is the small selection for higher end knives. They really just don't have the selection that many dealers have.

Amazon's return policy is literally the best out of any site I've used. I bought a computer monitor with two dead pixels. They paid for return shipping and sent me another one in exchange for no additional charge. I've never had a problem with knives from Amazon, even from 3rd parties, so I'd say buy with confidence.

Same experience here, as long as the knife is directly from Amazon. I bought a knife (non-Spydie) from a third-party "XYZ Liquidators and fulfilled by Amazon" and got the wrong knife. Someone stuck a 'S30V' label on the box that had the 420HC version (latter clearly marked) and sold it as the more expensive knife. Amazon took it back without any hassles.

They pay to advertise here.

Also a growing problem with Amazon as you can see from above is not themselves being dishonest but rather customers returning used/broken products. Those are then sold again by Amazon without checking or addressing issues.

This happened to me, If I remember right me and another member on here both handled the same beat up knife from amazon. I think he returned it and then I got it shorty after, It had a badly damaged tip. It was a BM 710. If you want to take a chance the return process is easy on amazon.

Like many have said, i also have never had an issue with amazon. I buy from them for (what is usually) the least expensive price and very quick and free shipping. I wouldn't have any worries buying from them (they pay for return shipping as well). Now another shop that has a great inventory and really good prices is BladeHQ
