Looking to finally buy high end spyderco. suggestions please?

Slysz Bowie is the best Spyderco I've ever had. The right balance of very high-quality and practical EDC.

I'm EDC'ing Spyderco Militaries for about eight years now. GOAT production folder and best kitchen folder.
If you have patience I would suggest the coming S90V Carbon Fiber Titanium frame-lock KnifeWorks Exclusive Military.

I've never particularly cared for Spyderco knives, there's something about that hole, it bothers me. Now the Rubicon, that is one sweet blade, it has really caught my eye, the hole be damned. :)
Bought the Rubicon, and it is one sweet little blade.
Waiting for that Rassenti Nirvana to come out

The Chokwe was high end to me when I started collecting Spydercos. The size was right between the Military and PM2. It was also the first RIL knife I got and costed less than a PM2. It is discontinued, but you can still find one on the exchange every once in a while.

I'll just have to echo some previous recommendations: the Slysz Bowie would be the top of the list, my all-time favorite Spyderco so far, but the Gayle Bradley and Southard are also great knives. I found the size and ergonomics to be a bit too cramped on the Southard for me, but the blade steel, flipping action, fit and finish, and lock-up -- all make for a very high-quality knife.

If none of those are your thing -- sure, the Paramilitary 2 is a good choice, but so is the Manix 2 XL. If you want a larger knife, I think it's just as good as the PM2 in terms of ergonomics; but I liked the extensive jimping, while I know others have found it to be a bit overdone and uncomfortable. The compression-lock is the better of the two designs, but I like the ball-bearing lock as well. I don't find it to be gimmicky at all -- it's very solid and easy to use when you get accustomed to it.

The coolest and most distinguishing feature of the Lionsteel SR1 design, IMO, is the integral titanium handle, so I was kind of disappointed that the LionSpy wasn't an integral, and felt the price was too high. The upcoming Spyderco-Peter Rassenti Nirvana, on the other hand, will feature the same integral, one-piece titanium handle of the custom model, as well as a stone-washed S90V blade; that's definitely one worth waiting for.

If u have to have one rite now check out the VALLOTIN model. Love mine and I'm a spider hater. If u can wait a while there are at least 5-6 models due out that are making me rethink my current dislike of all their stuff that looks alike. Check out spydercollector.com to see what's due out n happy hunting

I didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this was said already. There's an M4 PM2 in the works. That would be the one to get IMO.

Took me years to jump on the Spyderco bandwagon. Got the Paramilitary II and I think is perfect for EDC. I think this will be the only Spyderco I will ever own as I don't think it can get any better. Well maybe a Paramilitary but that's it I swear.

If you don't own either the PM2 or Military then you have to get one of those. I would suggest the larger Military as a great knife. If you have more money to blow get an exotic Mili (Super Steel, TI, you name it).

Hello Friar. I would like to know where you got those lovely scales on the middle knife in the picture? I am considering picking up one of these and knowing that you can place a custom scale is a plus for me.

Pic, just 'cause:

Just picked up the Vallotton which for me is better than the PM2 in every single way. But then, my tastes run counter to many folks. I like big, heavy, thick-bladed knives just fine. Here's mine:

This knife has superb fit and finish and just locks up so strongly, it's amazing. It's not for everyone, but it's perfect for me. Talk about high end, all four of the folks I've showed it to wanted to know where I'd gotten the $500 it must have cost. The looks I got when I told 'em what I actually paid were pretty amusing.

Titanium Military would be my suggestion.. can go for the stock flat scales or the fluted. Both are kind of hard to find now though. Then send it off to convert it to tip-up carry (Sal, if you are listening)

I hate to admit that I forgot to mention the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. I've had perhaps eight or nine of them. The Blade is CPM-M4...one of the best blade-steels you can find. That steel is often used in "rope-cutting" competitions and holds its edge for a very long time. It is not officially a stainless steel, but few folks have ever talked about rust problems with it. Just dry it if it gets wet.
99% of Spyderco fanciers absolutely love this knife. It's 3.5" in blade-length, and VERY heavy-duty capable. A great woods knife.

^ This.

You should take a good long look at the GB.
If I was going to buy a Spyderco, it would be the GB hands down.

Fit and finish are top notch, and the M4 blade (actually, the entire feel and design of the knife) is perfect as a working EDC.

It's just a perfect knife, maybe the most 'complete' EDC knife Spyderco has ever made.
It is the only Spyderco I miss, and will own again sooner than later.

You can also find really good deals on them on the exchange....

The ergonomics of the Lionspy and Rubicon are very different. The Lionspy weighs 2 ounces more than the Rubicon. These can translate to significant difference in carry and use. If you're set on choosing between both keep these factors in mind. Personally I wouldn't go with either.

LOL, after you tally all your deal breakers I dont know if a knife exists that you would go with. :p
