Looking to get my first zt... What do I do?!?!

Check out the 801; it was my first, and arguably my favorite in my entire collection (though Emersons are starting to rapidly accumulate...)

My 0562CF gets the most pocket time. But there is something that I love about every one I've picked up.

Wow guys. Thanks for all the advice. I think I may have narrowed it down to the 562cf or the 452cf. I don't know what it is but the 452 is growing on me. They are in a similar price range right? If that is the case the upgrade to cts-204p is pretty nice. I got rid of a 204p para and haven't gotten another 204p to replace it .

Just really depends on what you like. Both are good choices, 0562 has that tall big blade vs the longer and slimmer profile blade on the 0452. All ZT knives that rock KVT are butter smooth. Don't waste your time with the 0566, it hass speed safe w/ a stainless lock back, for the same money you can get a 0808 or 0450 which has full titanium on both sides and KVT. If you can find one and afford it, I suggest the 0392, basically a pimped out upgraded 0562.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually started looking at the 0392 (I think a blackwashed one?) Very handsome knife that one. But yeah im thinking I will go with the 0562cf. I actually don't have any ti framelocks that don't have stainless lock bar inserts... Is the stick that bad in the 566?

I'd love to add a 392 to the family. But they are just a bit out of my price range right now. I know I know, I could just sell two of the others and have plenty to add one. But I really love every one I've got right now. So the LE's will just have to wait for a user to show up at the right price.

Fwiw, my second most carried is the 452. Also really like the feel and balance of the 801.

First post of 2016???? Happy new year gents. Yeah the 392 is a bit out of my range at the moment. Don't even know where to find one anyways. The 801 cf is pretty sexy as well.

Of the two you mentioned, I would go for the 0562. Great knife and I enjoyed mine a lot but it gave me the itch for an XM-18, so it went bye bye.
On a different note, since you don't mind bigger knives, you may want to look at the Emerson ZTs. My 0630 is my favorite ZT to date. There's just something special about the wave.
0801 is a solid choice also.

The 0562 is a great knife, highly recommend it as it is easily one of my favorite ZT knives I own. The 0801 is another fantastic knife, as many rave it has very nice action.

Pretty much anything current usually has a steel insert to prevent wear and lock stick. The 0566 isn't a bad knife, to me it was something ZT threw out to get people to spend money on the hype. Simply put they skimped out on materials because at the time any Hinderer design knife was selling like hot cakes and people rushed and lined up to buy it. But for the avg price they sell for new or used you can get a much better ZT knife that will come with premium materials which is why I do not recommend it unless you really do like it that much you are willing to over look those things. And yes Speed Safe vs KVT bearing is night and day. Once you have felt and experienced KVT you will not want to go back to Speed Safe.

0392 pop up from time to time on the exchange, you just need to keep checking. The 0392bwbrz is very sexy indeed.

I have owned three ZTs (350,560,801) and kept the 0801. I absolutely love that knife. It's butter smooth and feels rock solid. If not for the 0801 I'd have a 0562CF. It's as close to a hinderer as you are going to get.

I only have two folders (0801, XM-18 3.5 spanto). I carry the XM most of the time because I want to keep the 0801 nice. What does that tell you!!!

I would go with the 0562. Assisted is not my favorite, even though I have several Kershaw SpeedSafe knives, I tend not to carry them. I have a 0550 that I love, and I carry it over my 0350 - probably because the 0350 is assisted.

I have de-assisted a couple of the SpeedSafe ZTs (0770CF and 0360TS.SKD) and a few Kershaw Blurs, and they are all great as manual knives. I have heard that the 0566 performs well deassisted too.

my favorite zt's are the 0560 and 0562 I prefer the 560 of the two I know that was not on your list but that would be my choice if I could only keep one zt

I have the 0562 G10 and an 0801BW to me that would be the harder decision. The 0801 is quite a knife, best flipper I have ever owned but I wouldn't give up the 0562 either.

Beautiful knife.

I have had 0566, 561, 350, mostly de-assisted.
If you dont mind the bigger I would get the 561.
For me 566 all day, as price point and size are spot on.

566 hands down. You have usable thumb studs on the 566 and flipper, unlike the 562's flipper only. Plus 566 is the perfect EDC size, IMO of course.
