I like to camp, backpack and that. I'd like to put together a good nessmuck package. I have a great large fixed blade and a good GS hatchet. I'd like to add a nice puukko to this package. Money isn't important so I'm not looking at a $15 mora (even though I'm sure it's awesome.

Please give me some recommendations on some great puukko knives you've used.

Check out boundary waters catalog dot com. Bought a GB axe from them and received their catalog in the mail,,,tons of knives in the style you might like.

Helle makes some gorgeous examples!
Yes they do, Kellam was another brand that had some really nice looking knives, although I've never owned either so can't give an opinion about the quality.

Roselli Carpenter is my favorite puukko. The sheath was cheap (I used it as a pattern to make another in better leather, keeping the plastic liner), but the knife is top quality, Krupp W9 steel, die-forged, birch grip.

If that's the case, check out this blog.

Contact a seppa you like, and after a few months wait, you'll have a beautiful, supremely functional puukko.

Why not get the one Big Chris has up for sale??????
It's not like you're not familiar with the caliber of knives he makes.

If a slightly more modern scandi knife is to your taste Enzo has them. I can also recommend Roselli knives.

Frederick89, who made the Puukko on the bottom? They are both beautiful examples of the tradition.

Speaking as a person who loves to camp, backpack and that and in no way criticizing but only seeking to clarify...

This is really a request for input on high end Puuko's right?

If you were doing a more faithful Nessmuck package, you would be looking for a robust multi-blade slip-joint to augment your current hatchet and fixed blade combination, yes?

One thing you may want to track is the heat treat on the various knives popping up on this thread. Some of the traditional makers use traditionally soft steel, sometimes with Rc levels at or below 55Rc. Martinni is one such example.

Discount the Mora Companion at your peril. It will perform with knives costing 10 times as much. The handle is incredible and the steel is excellent. It won't scratch the "I own a really good knife" itch, though. Their as common as mosquito bites.

I'm not discounting moras at all. I just wanted to anticipate the 150 posts that would say "just get a mora, they're cheap",,

You're right about the traditional nessmuk system however I may go with hatchet, 5.25" robust fixed blade and a puukko. I feel like I'll end up only using the hatchet and the puukko
