Well today marked a milestone for T.M.Hunt custom knives. Since the beginning of the year its been crazy, not only as far as work load for Blade, but its gotten even crazier after Blade. With the M-18 coming out in a couple of magazines and the exposure from Blade, I've been hit with orderes left and right. Good right, well, yeah but the problem is filling those orders. While this experience is awesome. I'm the guy that gets to lose sleep at night worrying about how to uphold my promises, keep my good name, and give the best product I can.

Now I'm the type of guy that don't like to let to much out of the bag. I play my cards close to my chest. Knowing that things can and often fall through. But today, a lot of stress, was lifted from me. I have been working on a project with a company for the last couple of months and today, when I got home from work, the fruit of that labor greeted me with open arms and I think its pretty awesome.

What is it you ask?

27 ready to grind and go waterjetted M-18's! Hell yeah!

Now I have never done anything like this at all, I do know that getting a idea out of my head and making into something a computer can do is a long process, but very neat for lack of better term. It was impossible for me to keep up cutting these out by hand even with Murph and myself both sitting at the bandsaw for hours on end. My piece of sh!t saw yields one per about 2 hrs. And eats about 1 blade per. So this is freeing up about 60hrs of work not to mention saw blades.

My long term plan is to do all of my workhorse line. The M-9, the Tradewater, Yuma, Magua, and Hornet. But my thought process was to knock out the big boy first, and the rest will be a piece of cake.

So, I got them cleaned up and oiled ready for the work to start. Do not attempt to adjust your monitor. These are stacked 3 deep.

So, even though a lot of people just see a bunch of metal hanging in a old dirty shop. I see success, I see promise, I see a vision coming clearer. I see all of the poeple that have supported and believed, And today I am one smiling S.O.B.

Now the work begins!

That, my friend, is getting things rolling. .
Big damn deal. Congrats.
I'll miss the old band saw and the possibility of chopping of my fingers as I drank beer!

Awesome stuff man. Expansion is a good thing.

Don't go strollin down memory lane too much ol buddy, there's still gonna be plenty of opprotunities to drink beer and cut off digits. Havnt got the whole workhorse line converted to CAD just yet! ;)

Expansion is a good thing indeed. Just as long as its not around your waist line  All of what I've been experiencing as far as knifemaking has been pretty stressfull ever since I took on Blade and all that's happened since. I feel like this is a turning point as far as stuff getting easier. So, hopefully I can devote a little time to taking off those extra pounds I've put on lately. :p

that's awesome news Todd!
congrats!
just the price of the sawblades should have come close to offsetting the cost per blank - the time savings is gravy!

I stopped by Hunt manor Thursday night to see what he was so excited about. After the cat ran out of the shop looking ashamed I had my doubts. Then I see all the water jetted blanks, damn I was almost ready to jump the cat too!

The water jetting is a huge step towards modernization that like Todd said, he's been stressing over. It's been a little while coming, but it's a huge leap.

This is HUGE!
Congrats, Todd, it's a great move.
A joist full of yumas and yumammas would be equally drool-worthy.
I'd always wanted to do that from the beginning. It only makes sense when you're making enough of the same model to justify the investment.

Todd brought one of these beauties up with him when he visited the compound. It's kinda freaky to see a blank cut out on something other than the 'ole bandsaw, knowing there's a waterjet somewhere precisely slicing them up. But..man, it is dead on! Wonder who'll get the 1st completed water-jetted one...

Awesome, now that they are massed produced there will be more out there and maybe I'll get to play with one in the future :)

Congrats man!

Question, how frickin big are those nails that are holding up 6 lbs of steel per!

Pretty sure they are 16s

That is excellent! Efficiency is key in any pursuit if it's to succeed and I think you just took a massive step. I better start begging now to get that M-18 on my Christmas list.

All I can say is hell yeah! Way to go, Todd.

Very freakin nice Todd! This will definitely make the M-18 a little more available...a very little more. I hope business picks up and maybe you can just be a full time knife maker and beer drinker :victorious: the later half of that sentence being my dream job :D

I must say, though, that I'm glad I got one that was completely built from scratch by your very hands. And I'm also glad that now I may be able to get another M-18 a little easier for my dad.

I see business booming in your future buddy! Very good job!
