Losing your knife

I lost 2 Kershaw Whirlwinds due to a loose pocket clip. I'm on my 3rd one, but this one has a very tight clip. So I should be ok.

I misplaced my Busse Battle Mistress with 9" blade. Looked everywhere, the freezer, the bathtub, the 5 gal. potato salad bucket... nowhere to be found!!

Then I go out to the back alley... ah ha! There it was! I felt so silly. It was right where I left it plunged through the heart of a transient. :)

I moved a couple of years ago and haven't seen my first gen Spyderco Endura since, not an expensive loss but a lot of memories. :(

My dad always carried a small Swiss Army knife and would lose it about 2-3 a year. He got tired of paying $15 to replace them all the time and bought a knockoff at a flea market 3 for $10. They were absolute junk, blade was dull, scissors didn't cut, the only thing that worked was the file. He hated them but couldn't lose them, he was still on the first one after a year, he finally broke down and bought a real one only to lose it one month later. I never heard him complain about buying a real one again.

My whole life my Dad has instilled the importance of taking care of your things. He grew up poor, I grew up in a pretty wealthy family but raised poor.. :P

I have been very lucky to never lose a knife, knock on wood. But I have definitely misplaced several.

I had a cheap small pocket knife that my brother gave me when I was like 12. I misplaced it; last time I had it I was across the street with my friends watching tv. They helped me look all over their house but we finally gave up. Several months later, maybe even a year, I was over there again watching tv. I was sitting in their recliner and felt my SAK fall out of my pocket, I reached for it but it fell in the back of the chair. We popped open the back and right there next to my SAK was my other knife. Although it wasn't a very important knife, I was ecstatic to have it back. I have a few other similar stories.

Currently though, my brother misplaced the Dragonfly 2 I bought him, it has been gone several months now. Of course, he wants me to get him another spyderco. :P

i lost a cheapo 10 dollar folder and a SAK at summer camp once(the cheapo was gotten at a dollar store, you know the ones with carvings on them) which sucked. Since then i misplace knives all the time. I lost my Ruko (EDC for a couple years at the time before i got into quality knives) lost it somewhere in guatemala, which sucked. I really liked that knife and still think it has one of the most ergonomic handles of any knife ive held, so i got another one a year later.

more recently i ordered a bunch of enlan's and played with the black blade EL01 for a day, put it on my bed, then went travelling for a few weeks and never saw it again. :(

I've never lost a folder with a pocket-clip, and would be very shocked if I did. The clips are amazingly secure. I'm carrying my Umnumzaan right now, and have no fear of losing it. Perhaps if I had to put my clothes into a gym-locker somewhere, that might be a different story. Thieves have no boundaries.

I just lost my work knife yesterday. well, i left it at my station and somehow it walked off. ah well, time to get a new knife :D

Luckily no, but one time I came pretty close to losing a customized Sebenza when I was doing indoor rock climbing. I remembered reaching into my pocket and the knife wasn't there. I think my eyes widened so much it almost popped out.

I looked around and it was laying on the mat a few steps away from me. WHEW!

Threads like this is why I seem to carry my Delica 4 more than any other knife. It is the right size, the right weight, quality enough to do the job well and not expensive enough to freak me out if I lose or break it. It's also nothing rare or limited edition so it is easy to replace.

I lost my Emerson Super CQC-8 about a month ago. It just aggravates the hell out of me. It was my favorite folder.

Lost a Leatherman Blast a few months back. Think the tail of my shirt caught in the belt sheath button, and it slipped out somewhere.

Had an ESEE 3 Mil and a 7" Kabar stolen from my trunk one night before a camping trip. This one hurts the most.

I've lost a few cheapo CRKT and Gerber folders over the years. Sometimes, when flying w carry-on only, I'll buy an inexpensive folder at my destination; then I'll give it to a friend in that city, mail it home, toss it into the trash at airport, or give it to security guard.

Nope. Never. And I usually carry my Griptilian too.
My favorite, and most expensive knife to date.
I would be livid if I ever lost it

no not really.
but a tip, ALWAYS keep your pocket
clip tight THEN if you are in a crowded area
keep your hand over you pocket!!

lost my Boker Plus money clip knife. searched the cars over and over thinking it musta' fell out, retraced my steps, tried to recall all events that may have given a pick pocket an opportunity, etc.

then picked up a pair of shorts that was sitting around and yep, there it was inside the pocket! :D

Thats the same one I'm missing at the moment

The only one was years back, an old gerber of mine was clipped and when scootin out the taxi, it snagged on something. Later that night i needed to cut something, and my gerber was gone forever :(

I work as a paramedic and lost a Surefire Delta folder on a call once. Since then my work knife goes in a velcro pocket so it doesn't' snag on stuff.
