Lost a peice of kit - handcuff key

I never lose stuff, but I'm guessing the handcuff key I EDC on a small peice of cord was eaten by the washer or dryer. I tore up my desk and searched the driveway and car, nothing. It was the small black plastic key that was included in my RAT survival kit I got a while back, and now I'd like to buy a few.

Any reccomendations on a site that sells them along with other survival/E&E related stuff that I can also buy?

I thought www.bestglide.com had these keys since I think they were the company that helped create the RAT kit, but I didn't see them on their site. I've done business with Best Glide in the past and they are great BTW, check them out.

Sales of the Handcuff Key are restricted to law enforcement, military, government agencies and security-related professionals. Or so they say, You can find them on eBay too. :jerkit:

Does not have the "ring" around it, but works just the same (the two holes allow you to stitch it in to clothes).

Thanks for the links:thumbup:
I'm not in any professional organization, so if they require some kind of documentation to that effect to ship the keys I can't provide it:thumbdn:

Ebay is outrageous...16 keys for $75...I'm better off spending another few bucks and getting another RAT kit!

I always wondered about getting a handcuff key hot and stepping on it and melting it in to the sole of your boot. :D

Walking on hard surfaces would sound something like this though;

If you do a google shopping search for Magnalight Handcuff Key you can find them as well. :)

I picked up a few at the army navy store around the corner from my house. The owner keeps them in a soda can behind the counter.:D

These are so far more convenient than to pick handcuffs you're stuck in ... you always seem to need extra joints in your hands and fingers, when you try that ...

Just be sure never to be important enough for non-standard cuffs ...

Yeah, I'd take a look at your nearest Army Navy store, they have a bunch of them in my town's store for $2 a piece

Dont downplay the importance of PLASTIC!
If you fly and security at a foreign airport finds your key... it would not be good!

most metal detectors aren't set to go off for things that small. You might fail an overzelous wanding, but a handcuff key will def pass a walk-through.

$6 S&W brand, at knifecenter.com

I keep one on my key chain :)

Not sure where to get plastic ones, but at my local outdoor store they have S&W ones for $3.

You might want to check the laws about that. I know it changes from state to state.

I really tried to let this one go by, but I'm just too curious I guess: Would you care to elaborate on how you seem to know al of this?

 :D

I picked locks in my spare time, then I worked with a locksmith for a while, and I still do emergency openings in my direct neighbourhood. And when you are into this kind of thing, you tend to look at anything that has a lock ...

If you're interested you might want to look at tool.nl as well.

Whoa, way cool!! And I agree with the notion that one tends to want to know everything about the stuff one digs :D:thumbup:
Will have a look at that site, thank you for the link!
