Lost a peice of kit - handcuff key

In Florida if you are taken into custody by the po po, put in handcuffs and have a cuff key concealed on you it is a felony!

Well, if you have a spare set of keys in your pocket and on those keys there is a handcuff key, that, too, is "concealed."

Guess people should move from Florida.

Or just tell them about the key so they can remove it and you don't get a felony charge.

You're not likely to E&E from an actual po-po capture in the US. Best to E&E beforehand.

A lot of the fear-mongering gets way overblown in threads like this. A whole lot of B.S. to which people get their ass up on their back and counter - "Yeah! You'll think it is 'B.S.' when you get charged buddy!"

I just don't go around breaking the law so I really don't have too many concerns about other people's concerns. I mean, I don't go to bars for one thing. If you want to avoid over 75% of self-defense situations and 75% or more possibility for law enforcement contact in your life, drink at home. Right there you have negated so much of what so many people envision in their pseudo cautionary posts.

This worries me a lot. I have been in LE for 28 years and never seen anyone except LE officers and escaping prisoners/persons who beleive they may be arrested, that had need of a handcuff key for any legit reason. Is this the type of persona we knife users want to project to the rest of the knife hating world?

I know people here did not make this but this is a poor choice of topics that the public can view.

This is not meant to provoke an argument just my thoughts.

This is a quote from the sellers site, this leads me to believe there is only one reason to market this:

"Existing users of the handcuff key usually wear between 4 and 12 keys on their person. In various test situations, various searches by seasoned law enforcement personnel typically only finds a few of the keys".

I think it is purely ridiculous to imply that only cops have a need for cuff keys or that only criminals would be interested in carrying a spare. I carry one on my keychain for the reasons mentioned. If, for some reason, I am in handcuffs, I can PROMISE you that I don't belong in them. I don't break the law to the extent that I would be arrested, so it would definitely be a less than scrupulous individual trying to cuff me, not a cop.

I have a pair for in the case of home invasion, robbery or the like. I don't carry them with me outside the house.

Be careful with that down here, shotty, not expressly legal. I would imagine you're better of killing the invader than getting hit for false imprisonment, kidnapping, etc...
