Well its Friday night. The wife is having a girls night out, my daughter is at her grandma's and I'm home alone with a pot of chili and a 6pack of Stoudts Triple Belgian abbeystyle ale:thumbup: Paradise

Survivorman is on at 9pm eastern. He is doing a lost hunter episode with him and a friend. Should be a good one. I have been looking forward to this one as it's one of the most common senarios of a Survival situation.

I am sure there are some of you that will be watching, so feel free to post your thoughts here.

I just watched Season 2 DVD I bought yesterday. Im geared up for a new one.

The season 2 DVD is a good un. It includes Surviving Alaska, the making of Survivorman, and some of my favorite episodes. I have seasons 1 and 2 now, but neither has the Urban Flood/Huricane episode I saw a while back. Whats up with that???

I will be tunin in. Sounds like a nice night Tony!

Im sittin here with a bottle of Boulevard, and a Cohiba.

Ain't it the simple things, tonym? I love it when I get one of those nights. But I love it when my 3 year old is pestering the heck out of me, too.

I remember that episode Jake, it was a good one. Oooh a cohiba, I'm not allowed to smoke in the house :( but I that would be nic right now.

Mapper, my 4 year old gets to pester me every night and in away I do look forward to it. But these nights happen about 5 times a year, so I am loving it.

Anyone watching Bear right now, he just said it took him 15 minutes to make an a frame shelter with spagnum moss roof which he had to dig out of snow.

He's goooooood:D

I'm waiting for tonights episode too. Never seen the one with the flood/hurricane I'll have to look into getting the dvd's.

I was waiting for les to shoot his buddy out of his stand. Might wanna raise the muzzle a little more.;)

Good stuff so far. I am liking the signaling, it was neat. This 2 man stuff is really cool!!

Oh yea Tony....My wife is at work, she will kill me if She saw me smoking it anywhere but my den.:D

I think I saw them gather some birch bark, why use the shot gun shell powder to start the fire with a ferro rod?

Good episode so far! I want to know where Les' pal got that hat with the zipper pocket!

Good question Tony.

Anyone else see a higher morale with les having somebody with him?

I like Bob.:D

Damn, just missed it. I'm watching the last three minutes. Les does seem more cheerful with someone around, but isn't that true to life? Nothing like some companionship to make you feel better. As they say, "misery loves company."

You can have the hat. I want the Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen! :D:p

Odd choice for deer hunting as slugs for 16ga probably aren't easy to come by. Judging by the purple shells, he had some shot shells with him. Can't say I've ever seen purple slug shells.

Looks like Bob is using a small break-action single shot. .410? Maybe a 28ga.

Anyone notice the knife Les is wearing. They showed a quick glimpse of it on his belt. Lookd like a Buck Kalinga Pro.

My question is if in that situation do you keep moving or stay put. Seams if that they stayed put at the lake, SAR would have found them faster.

The timing of your thread is perfect. I just sat down, turned on my computer and the boob tube, read your thread and survivorman just started. It's the Arctic Tundra show which is great since I'm planning a caribou hunt for next year.

Stay put and get the signal fires ready. Make other signals. Just tramp them out in the clear areas. You could also make prominent footsign or signals (arrows) at all the best signcutting areas (creek beds, trails, ravines, fencelines, edges of clearings etc.) that lead to your shelter and signal fire area.

Les said that they were making it harder for SAR but he was doing it because that's what most lost people do. That scene when the air unit first flies over is reminiscent of The Edge. Never be out hunting for squirrel when you don't have signaling and shelter prepared already. You may only get once pass from the aircraft. It's too late then to think of signaling.

Les clearly isn't a gear whore. Hard to say if that Browning is a 16 g or not. Did they say that?

Single shot did look like a 410 to me. They showed the shells on the ground when SAR found the area where the companion guy plucked and gutted the bird. The 410 almost looked like it had a shortened barrel.

Knife? I don't know.
