Lost Hunter

I think I saw them gather some birch bark, why use the shot gun shell powder to start the fire with a ferro rod?
Les does some things just to demonstrate.

He clearly knows how to start fire certain ways (bow and drill etc.) but doesn't use those skills in certain scenarios.

I was beginning to wonder if the friend was up to the job.

Les clearly isn't a gear whore. Hard to say if that Browning is a 16 g or not. Did they say that?

No, they didn't say it was a 16ga but for a while ammo manufacturers color coded their shells so one wouldn't accidently chamber a 16 or 20 in a 12.

Red for 12ga, yellow for 20ga, and purple for 16ga. When they dumped the powder for the fire it was a purple shell. IIRC, .410 was green. I don't recall what 28ga was.

The A5 in 16 was a very popular upland gun.

Hey Bear trapped some kind of furry animal and Les didn't trap anything.

Of course maybe the furry animal was run over by the snow cat that was carrying Bear's gear. ;)

I don't think Les has much experience in firearms. Plus, I don't think he's a hunter like his friend Bob was. Les has said on many occasions that he doesn't like to kill animals.(except for survival).

Les and Bob sure looked good in their brand-new Columbia provided outerwear!

Anybody else notice how many times they changed outfits? LOL 2 or 3 dif parkas and such.

Not only that, but I was watching the closing credits, and there was something about "hair done by so and so"...

Don't know about you, but I don't need much help with my hair when I'm in the woods. It looks like $hit all by itself. :D

The SAR guys found .410 shells near the bird feathers. The hat is available from Scott E-Vest I think. I didn'tnotice the parka colors but I will watch it again on DVR.

Any word on the knife Les had? His friend either a Buck special or general so I thought that Les would have the kalinga to keep it in the family, but not certain.

Hell, I manage to look like that and I shave my head. :)

Just a couple episodes left ....who's next?

His friend is definitely carrying a Buck Special... Hey, does Buck still make the General. I have one that I bought many years ago.

Can't tell what knife Les is using. I swear it seems like he tries to hide his knives every episode.

I agree. The editors seems to cut away just when we are going to get a close-up of his knife. They don't have a problem showing all the different clothing options he wears and close-ups of the Columbia logo on his outerwear. (Columbia is a sponser of the show). If he got sponsered by a knife company, I'm sure that we would see mulitple close-ups and in-action shots of his knife.:D

Also, it seemed that the multi-tool he used in this episode was a Gerber, though it was hard to see.
