If you were lost in the bush and could cary only one folder, has to be a folder, which one? Ah but another twist 50 or under in price. I'm sure this scenario fits many who have gotten lost.:jerkit:

"Lost in the bush." Must be a weekend. Carry my native III on weekends. It's always in my pocket, so that must be what I've got in the bush.

i would most likely go with my small 1.75 inch blade folder (i am so excited i just fixed up the edge with my new file and it is so nice and sharp) i paid $15 US at the local hardware store (funny story...i got the wrong knife, but i ended up happy). i don't need a big knife, just enough to last me until i find the trail again.

but this scenario is supposing that i have all of my other gear (say...from my dayhike pack?) with me, and i just happened to have dropped my fixed blade in that river back there while crossing it sort of thing, and then i get lost trying to find it downstream?

The reason I posted this thread is that alot of backpackers hit the woods with only 50 and under type folder. Might as well be a decent one.

If I purposefully went into woods in which I might get lost, I'd almost certainly have my Fallkniven A1 with me. So the question doesn't obtain, to my way of thinking. (In such a case, I'd likely have with me either my Delica 4 or CUDA EDC, as well.) But given the choice of which of my folders I'd have with me if I could have only a folder, when lost in the woods, it would be my CRKT S-2 (large).

If I am ANYWHERE with only one knife, the world has already come to an end, Satan is sharpening his ice skates, and anyone left is ducking flying pigs!:D

Well, I'd most likely have my 3 EDC's on me. My Benchmade Vex, Spyderco Native, and, last, and most important, my Wenger Handyman SAK (as well as a Bic lighter -- and a Zebra telescoping pen, for those 'the pen is mightier than the sword' moments...). Each can be had for well under $50 individually.

Would not have a folder in that type situation. Scrapper 6 LE @ ScrapyardKnives.com or Busse Battle Mistress. Have both on order.

For the purposes of this discussion, I would have to say my Vic trekker. If, however, I was walking down the street, and got magically teleported deep into the woods with only what I had on me, it would be: BM 551 grip, Spyderco Native, Vic tinker, Two ballpoint pens, and a butane torch cigar lighter.

Well, you didn't state $50 new or used.

Therefore, I'd go with my previously owned 710M2 I picked up for $40 and a six pack of brew.

It ain't pretty, but still functions great.

For many years I carried A delica for EDC and augmented this with gerber Gator while hiking camping etc. I used the Gator to split kindling, carve tent pegs build shelters, prepare food, and many other camp chores. My only problem is that its bulky and hard to dray from a pants pocket due to its rubberized grip.

Since i swiched to an Endura 4 for edc(45$), I use this for camp chores and leave the Gator at home all together.

The buck 110 is always a great choice.

If your looking for a multi tool, The SAK Rucksack with a large locking blade and a saw is a great survival folder ( a saw is a must for any serious wilderness survival multi tool)
