Have you contacted Patrick at TAD about your watch? He's always been very helpful. Sorry to hear about your tough situation. I hope it gets resolved soon.

~Mitch:- íYes, we talked. He said he's sorry for that. And asked if I want to re-purchase. . .

It's not his fault, and I have no doubt about his integrity. . .
Too bad, it's not mine fault either.

Sorry to hear about this Shanti - sometimes that's just the way the wind blows.

I can understand your frustration real well -my $200 order disappeared last year while on the way over here USPS. Since then, I've had almost everything Fed Ex'ed in.

Patrick gives you a choice of insured or uninsured shipping. Which one did you pick.

I dealt with Patrick from TAD only once and it was flawless. To make sure I get my stuff I chose insured shipping.

yes, international shipping has been a real issue.

we used to offer only UPS service internationally but had alot of requests for a more inexpensive manner of shipping. so we began to offer USPS at lower rates.

i personally drive the packages to my local post office (20 minutes in traffic & at least 20 minutes in line, & then 20 minutes drive back). for a $16 CMG flashlight, not really worth the effort from a business and revenue standpoint.

the lower USPS global priority and air mail rates also mean less recourse for tracking(unless USPS global express, which then is almost as much as UPS), our international customers request that we declare the packages for values substantially under the actual cost to avoid taxes and tariffs, so even if insurance was included to full values, it would not fly because it does not match the declared value.

we have tried to acommodate these requests, but as of last evening we have eliminated USPS options for internaional shipping. it was simply too much grief.

some of our international customers wanted cheap rates, low declarations, and no insurance.

however on the ocassions when the international package is lost, who gets left holding the "debt" bag?

we have no way to ask for a full claim from USPS, there is no way to track it, and everyone is unhappy.

also, credit card fraud hit us hard last year. AND it only came from international orders. we lost over 3k last year to fraudulent international orders. we learned the hard way. we now call in to our CC company for every international order to verify credit card numbers. often we get order to places like indonesia, but the actual card holder home address in in chicago? NOT. also, the card holder name is certainly not "Jumico Lakarta" or whatever.

we may eliminate internaional orders all together.

it is unfortuante, because we have a healthy overseas clientele (whom we know and trust), which we hope to continue helping with choice knives and gear.

we tried this international thing but it has been a real mixed bag....

As a knife buyer who has to get almost everything from the US, I can understand dealers' reluctance to ship overseas. Sometimes the hassle isn't worth it and some dealers have given up altogether. 1SKS has banned credit card orders for overseas buyers due to credit card fraud.

When I buy from someone I havent dealt with before, I take pains to have all eventualities worked out and understood by both parties. Like what happens in the event of lost packages and customs seizure. My first buys are usually money order and I let the seller confirm the money is in the bank before shipping anything. If I buy by credit card, I provide references to dealers I've dealt with before using the same card for verification.

This thing doesn't happen everyday, I'd say that it's an "accident." Though it's hard, eventually I can accept it just like another fact in life.

I've been ordering online, mostly from USA, mostly knifes and books, for almost 3 years. That's a few thousands dollars.
And this is a first time. . .

It sure hurt, but I don't think it could stop me from buying again.
If TAD bans all inter' order, and I hope I'm not the one who cause TAD to pull the trigger, we'll then have to go seek, find, search somebody else.
I'm sure about that.
And that's my 0.02$.
