Lost my knife.... time to get a new one

@Jerrykane I would suggest starting your own thread for recommendations and give us some insight into what you seek besides budget. If you prefer traditional style knives you can post there for traditional specific suggestions else post it in general. I could suggest 20+ knives under $100 that I can recommend right now but if I know what you seek I can narrow that list down.

Delica,
Dragonfly,
Chaparral($87 BHQ),
Manix ($90 BHQ).

All of the above can be had in versions under the $100 mark from for example BHQ.

Buy one or more of them, post about them here and we will have you pre-ordering a $400 Spyderco Drunken in no time flat:D

..... usually I'm around the water or in the woods so I need something that will not slide out of my hand.
........ but I'm not gentle on them either
- I take my knife everywhere (Office, hiking, sailing, hunting, etc.) so it needs to be pretty capable.
Also Spyderhawk Salt ($100).

My wallet just told me your post was the LEAST helpful :-)

Thank you all for the advice on my next EDC knife. looks like there are a lot of votes for quite a few options. Seems like a number of spyderco options, the blur, and a buck vantage are garnering the high votes. I'll let you all know what I pick, but I will say this with all the great options my wallet does not thank you. Granted it hated me first :-)

Haha I mentioned the knockout earlier because it's a knife I've always loved the looks of but never got because I wasnt sure how much I'd carry it over my spydies, zt's and benchmades and such, but knew it was still a good knife. I showed my wife a pic of the m390 knockout with the sasquatch on it because I loved it and guess what came in the mail today. My wife found it and ordered it without my knowledge
Now I can fully recommend this as your next knife. This thing is awesome! A little bigger than than your lost mini grip. It is assisted though which you said you like. And while it is a bigger blade than the mini it's very thin and will carry well in the pocket plus the ergos will provide a good grip. The awesome blue color with the black sub frame lock is a bonus. This is definitely kicking my pm2 and stryker out of my pocket for while.

Main prereqs: Style: folder, Price: Under $100, Blade: 3" willing to go to 3.25", locking mech: not specified; one-handed opening; Handle: FRN, G-10, Width: relatively thin as I do work in an office.
Most everything I need was listed on the original post.

If it were me I would just get another grip but if you want to try something else out go for it. ;)

How about the Benchmade Freek? It is just slightly over $100. It offers outstanding grip retention. S30 v steel and an Axis Lock.

I work in an office as well and also like all the characteristics in a knife you are looking for. I have spent a lot of time and money trying to find the perfect "office/everyday" knife. It has long been an obsession. For me, and I think like you, it needs to look right in the setting but be very capable in other places.

The closest I have come so far to the perfect office knife is the one I have with me today, a Spyderco Mantra 1. It is a slightly larger Delica in a classy suit. It has a flipper which I rarely use because the opening is so crisp I can't stop flicking it open with my middle finger or thumb. The issue for the woods/water use is the CMP-M4 steel which will not weather well in those conditions unless cared for diligently, unless your like me and love a nice patina. With this said, it is well above your price range. I have had others before that were in or closer to your price range.

I have carried a ZT 0450 with a deep carry clip and this to me is good all around knife with the look of a gentleman's folder. My only issue was the flipper, which is perfectly done, but I just don't love opening my knives with a flipper. It is also above your price range. But getting closer.

I carried a Benchmade Bugout in blue. The deep carry clip was perfect for the office but the color was not to my liking and personally, it was to lightweight for me. I know that sounds strange but I do like a little weight to my knife because it feels more solid in the hand to me.

I have a leek and a blur and the leek is a good office knife but to me the blur is too wide and outdoorsy looking for my setting. Plus I prefer manual opening (my knives do double duty as a fidget toy)

All this leads to my recommendation based on my search. With most of the characteristics you are looking for I would suggest the Spyderco Salt 2. It is similar to the Delica, lightweight, relatively thin and will not rust in the water, is easy to clean and has a stouter tip. I have one and I have carried it to the office and if I choose to do so more in the future I would get an aftermarket deep carry clip for appearances at work. The only issue might be the black blade if your trying to look less menacing.

I hope this helps in your search for your next knife.

P.S.: Other great office knives I have but out of the price range: Benchmade 943 and Spyderco Sliveraxe

So I pulled the trigger at the boat show over the weekend. And picked up a brand new delica4. Damn thing is razor sharp. Thank you all for your advice.
