I bought a lnib CRK sebenza from a forum member on 12/19.He

mailed it from Ga. on 12/23 Priority mail(yes I did insure it).I still havent got

it...I know he mailed it...weve been communicating.

I check with my small local po.Insurance wont pay until 21 or 30

days Im not sure which.Id really rather have the knife than the $$$.

Has anyone ever lost a knife in the mail? Did you just give up after

a couple of weeks? Was your knife insured?

I won an out of production CRKT s-2, the smaller version a couple years ago and my package arrived with a little hole in the corner and no knife..... I was not pleased.

True my loss is far less costly than ours but it does suck to 'lose' something in the mail. I am quite positive a postal worker is now carrying it now.

It's too soon to say if it's lost or just delayed. You certainly don't give up. Insured is good: file for compensation. Uninsured, report the loss to the Postal Inspectors. I would be worried after a week but the reason the Postal Service won't pay for a month is ... they can turn up. There are processing cycles that can flush out a misplaced item within that time.

I'd relax for a few days, it probably just got delayed by the holiday nonsense. Be patient :)

SAve all the cards and reciepts from the PO. I have lost a couple things in the mail and because the paperwork was all saved, they paid. Had some small hoops to jump through but I did get my money. Be prepared to prove what the knife was worth too. Download a few listings off websights and such. If you paid using Paypal, print out your payment notice. As was mentioned before it is the holiday season and mail does run slow so you may still see it delivered :)

You will need the receipt for the knife to get your money. The postal service has to have something showing the value.

I sent me a movie back to Netflix that never arrived. Anyways, 8 months later, I get an email from Netflix saying they recieved the missing movie from the post office. Does that help any?

I had a small Sebenza lost/stolen by someone at the PO being shipped from CRK. It was insured and they replaced it right away. I now insist on insurance, :)

Yeah. sometimes it's just sitting in the post office and because one or another person don't what the heck they're doing, things can get messed up. Talking to different post offices can help. Yours and the one it left from. Hope you get the knife.

This is very true....i have done many usps transactions and a few out of a few hundred were delayed.....the worst one was from a little guy who wrote the zip incorrectly...IIRC that one took close to a month....I know it sucks but hang in there.

The shipper is responsible for filing the insurance. You're owed your money immediately.

I disagree, there is no malice here....unless they agreed on express (overnight) the package should be given more time to arrive....personally i would have not shipped before a major holiday because of the chances of something like this happening. :)

I lost two knives in the mail this year. One insured. One not.

The insured one was one I was trading and had sent to my trading partner. I posted about it in another thread. If the postage and insurance was posted online, a claim can be filed online 21 days after mailing. The person who mailed the package has the option to have the claim paid to himself or the addressee.

I paid the trading partner after he provided me with a statement of loss and send me back the empty box from which the knife had been stolen. You need proof of loss and proof of value for the post office. I got a check within a week or so of filing the claim. YMMV.

To the OP,

I'd wait a few more days to see if the package surfaces. I mailed a knife on December 21 to another forumite and it took a full week to arrive at his address (should have been a couple days). USPS is swamped right now and packages are taking way longer than normal to arrive.

As for insurance, proof of value can be a receipt for purchase or a paypal receipt. I received an insurance payout from USPS for a lost knife by submitting the paypal statement showing the purchase price of the item.

The PO does not like to tell you this but they can track the package with the insurance #.
Take the # to your PO and ask them to track it.If they say they can not it is a lie.I have had the people at my PO do it.

Yes, Ive done this many times....

I should have waited a couple of days more before posting this thread

about my CRK being lost in the mail.....it was FOUND today 12/31. Mark you

are right I should have waited a couple of days(after Xmas) to have the

knife mailed to me.

I cant post pics but I know yall would have got a long laugh out of the

the way the box looked when I got it.My knife was shipped Priority mail in

the CRK box in a box big enough for at least 6 or 7 crk boxes. The Pr. box was

smashed because it was toooo big!
