LOST/STOLEN benchmades HELP!

I wasnt sure where to post this but if I posted it wrong could the moderator move it to where it belongs.

I purchased 5 rare benchmades (4 630-400's, and an 855-07 for Ron aka "sidetracked" on a couple forums) on Friday December 18th and they were shipped the same day through UPS. The package was to be delivered on Tuesday the 22nd. I waited for the truck to arrive but with the holiday season UPS drivers are out delivering as late as 7:30 pm. I had to step out at around 3:49 pm or a little later to run a couple errands (one of which was to the PO to ship a package) and got back home at 5:30 pm. Still no package from UPS so I waited til about 7pm thinking that the truck was still to arrive at my house with the package and it never showed. So I checked the tracking on UPS.com and guess what it said, "package left at front door" at 3:50PM which initself was hard to believe because I was just leaving the house at exactly that time and looked at the front door before I left and there was nothing. Im thinking the temporary driver might have taken it. After all their seasonal job was about at an end, why not take a little extra. Thats just my opinion though.

My heart was quickly sinking to the floor at this point. So I recheck my entire front yard and garage to no avail. Checked with all the neighbors in my quiet culdesac and nothing. I was almost in shock at this point, but what could I do? I called UPS and all they could tell me was what I had already read online, and that I contact the sender and that they fill out an investigation report and what not. Luckily it was insured. The report was filled out the next day and I was contacted about the situation by UPS and now I am just waiting to see if the package shows up or I get my money back from the insurance claim. I would much rather have the knives as they were irreplaceable especially the 855-07 that I found for Ron aka "sidetracked", he has been searching for this knife forever.

I need some help in keeping an eye out for these knives as they are each serial numbered except for the 855-07 which is rare in its own right for sure. If anyone sees these for sale or whatever please let me know. My email is RContre81@msn.com

I don't know about UPS as I've never had a lost package claim with them, but the USPS requires a delivery signature on anything insured over 200 dollars. There's no signature with high dollar value packages required with the UPS?

The UPS investigation is more than likely to see if they will charge the driver with the loss. It is the drivers discretion, or their supervisors, to decide if it is safe to leave the box but they assume the risk in certain situations.
Many UPS drivers don't even ring the bell in a residential area. They just drop the box, scan it as delivered and run. This years seasonal drivers have quite a few former white-collar types that are out of work. You'd know the best if there was a chance someone took it from your step. As someone familiar with UPS operations, chances are it wasn't taken by the driver. Not much time to think about anything with a stop required every few minutes by Mgmt.
Who knows what happened to it and chances are you'll never know. Just make the claim and get reimbursed.

Please keep us informed even if it takes a few months to get reimbursed. i would like to the outcome and the procedure to get reimbursement. I often wondered what type of proof you need for value and how long this whole procedure takes. Basically want to see if insuring a package really works!
