I have been enjoying the show. Since Hawaii just got cancelled and I don't expect North Shore to last much longer (if it hasn't gotten cancelled already), Lost seems to be our best shot at sustaining a series since Magnum P.I. Then again, Lost's advantage appears to be that it is only filmed in Hawaii and not set here. I like the way it's written and the way they are unfolding the story by centering on different characters in each episode.
Ilovetoolsteel's theory about fears occurred to me, and still appears to be fitting in, but haven't decided if that's it yet. I don't think Locke has conquered his fear. It appears that his fear is not being able to do things because he gets pissed everytime someone tells him he can't do something. So conquering his fear is more like going back to being a cripple again--at least that's what I think.
As for Jack's dad--I've been wondering if the island has some sort of resurrection/healing powers. If Locke can walk again after landing on the island, maybe the father was brought back from the dead. Then again, the rest of the dead people haven't come back yet.
Anyone else wonder what the hell was with the kid who almost drowned trying to save the lady? Didn't he say he was a lifeguard in the first episode when he was doing CPR wrong on the lady? Maybe he wasn't good at CPR, but he had to at least have been able to swim, right?
As for the knife vs. spear thing--the spear actually never even occurred to me because as Mike Taylor mentioned, pig hunting with a knife isn't unheard of here. I sure as hell wouldn't want to do it, though. And what's up with the agent--shouldn't they have looked for some spare magazines or extra ammo or something? I find it difficult to believe he only had what he loaded his gun with.
All nitpicking and psychoanalysis aside, I like the show. I think it's different than the other stuff that's out there. Looks like next week they all go psycho and try to kill each other.
