I recently got one of these, and man, this thing is awesome. To me, it is the PERFECT size. Great balance, great blade/handle proportion, good blade shape, and stout.

Anybody else love them some Rifts?

Loved mine. Great blade. EDC'd for about a year, traded. Versatile blade shape, good ergos, strong tip. Will have another 950 to carry, as well as a 2012 Forum Knife.

I am a fan too. I have a 950-1 and I find that the ergos are nearly perfect for my hands. I wish Benchmade would put out a run of them with an upgrade blade steel. Satin finish M390 anyone?

Love the Rift. Carrying mine today.

Agree. Ok, in my dream world, I would address some extremely minor nits -- keep the amazing (custom!) look of the G10 scales, but make it a little more textured/grippy (like the feel of the G10 on a Spyderco PM2); and for me, add a little more handle material near the pinky end, for even more secure grip. That's it.

But I would not, could not, ever change the blade shape. Perfection for working around the house, even camping and some food prep. LOVE is right.

I like the Rift. The 950-1 is my favorite and sees its fair share of pocket time:

Yep I am real glad I bought a 950, easy to EDC and up for whatever you want to use it for.

I have seen someone on this forum describe it as something like a 'little big folder', meaning a good size and solid, yet slim and light enough to comfortably EDC. I thought that to be a very apt description.

M390 version would be great, but I gotta say I'm pleased with how sharp the 154CM gets and the edge retention seems quite good to me.

A question for owners of the Rift. The "hook" at the bottom of the blade just in front of the handle is one of the biggest I have seen. Has anyone ever got this to "snag" on rope or anything else while cutting or slicing? Thanks.

As I sat last night, comparing my 950 to other knoves, I see why I like it so much. It is nearly the exact same size as my PM2. That to me, puts them in the upper end of the mid sized knives, which is really perfect. For me anyway.

Yet, the Rift is more size efficient than the PM2. It's closed length is .20" shorter, yet the blade is .25" longer.

You guys make me want another. My Forum Rift sits in the box and wants a user for company. This knife is a much better fit than the 810.

Yep. Same argument can be made for the 710 vs Military. Easier carry, more blade. As nice as some of the Spyders are.....vs Butterflys?...no argument in my book. Seems obvious.

Antennas For Life

(Saw that somewhere, cant remember...brilliant tho' :))

This forum is financial poison! :grumpy:

...First Rift ordered. Black G10 w/plain edge. Broke but stoked :D

Exact;y what Bob said...

Held one of these for the first time yesterday. Never realized how big they were. Definitely the next knife on my list to buy.

Hmm, Look at that.

I owned a 950 for about two years, carry it for the better part of a year. Fondled often. Am just noticing now, looking at these pics...the Axis mech is on a slight angle off center line...higher at rear, looks between 20-30'...not in a straight back config, like most others..Always noticed how smooth this model was, maybe had something to do w/ how nice it was to "flick" deploy.

Anyone else noticed this? Is this old news that Ive missed?

I've been asking for that for over a year!

A Rift with m4 steel would be sweet too.
It is. There was a limited edition in M4, and the Benchmade Forum Knife were in M4. The only thing it needs to make it better is M390 for those of us who prefer a satin finish instead of coated.

Never.

And here I was contemplating asking you if you wanted to sell one of yours to me. I miss my Rift.

After the mini-AFCK, the Rift is my favorite knife, and it comes close to being my absolute favorite. My two oldest boys have fallen in love with it as well, and they both carry them (at 14 and 13 yrs old). The only thing it needs to be perfect is M390, just like the Conte go now has. Heck, you can keep the same grey/black scales, and I'll dye them whatever color I want. I'vedone denim blue, Kelly green, and cherry red.

I really wanted to get a hold of a forum Rift but missed out on it. M4 is my favorite cutlery steel and I like the Rift much better than the 810
