Love for the Rift

Hmm, Look at that.

I owned a 950 for about two years, carry it for the better part of a year. Fondled often. Am just noticing now, looking at these pics...the Axis mech is on a slight angle off center line...higher at rear, looks between 20-30'...not in a straight back config, like most others..Always noticed how smooth this model was, maybe had something to do w/ how nice it was to "flick" deploy.

Anyone else noticed this? Is this old news that Ive missed?

I have one on order/acceptance coming in to my local dealer as I have not been able to find one in the area. Thanks for the sharp eye on seeing the axis deference. I think I just might tell my dealer to just get it, and I will take it. Nice looking knife.

I've had my Rift 950SBK since 2008 (paid $121 back then). Love the nice-looking Black & Charcoal G-10 handle with the reverse tanto blade. This is yet another Benchmade that should return but I'm afraid it would be priced too high. Would've loved one of those Plaza Cutlery Limited Editions (200 pieces) with the CF handle.

I am digging the Rift so much that I want another. Thinking black/charcoal G10 and either black or satin blade. I know it would be smart to just wait -but I like the thing so much, I am getting greedy for more

Favorite color combinations on this knife anybody?

My first one was black and gray G-10/satin, the second was black G-10/satin. (...and my favorite color.) After selling the second to buy a Contego, I sold the Contego.

The Contego is more of an outdoor folder than a edc. Granted, I used to edc mine, and I'll edc the -1401 I just ordered, but it fits best when used outdoors camping/hunting/etc. For edc, the Rift excels. They just need to make it in M390.

Loony, those dyed scales look sweet. Mulling over going for charcoal/black at the moment.

The Rift is just such a perfect size knife. Really glad I finally scooped one. I'm not sneezing at the current iteration but M390 Rift would be the one.

The rift is far and away my favorite folder. Just fits my hand so well and the blade shape is perfect for my EDC tasks.

I like it so much I actually own 3, can't allow the possibility of being without. Luckily I purchased mine 2012 and prior. That said I still think they are well worth it.

It's in my left pocket at all times, well unless a Volli is there instead on a rare occasion.

I swear the rift opens faster and smoother then any of my other blades, including assisted.
Really nice to have great options for us wrong handed folks.

I love Rift. I have 950BK-1. Blade ergonomics are one of the best (compare with 810 and 940).

I wish it has mild jimping a la Griptilian, 94X style. I was surprised the handle frame is not cross drilled.

I would buy another one if BKC produces in M390 like 810-1401.

I have a Rift that is brand new, it's a great looking knife but its just not for me. I got it as a gift this Christmas and will be trading it soon. I just can't seem to warm up to it at all.

Been breaking it in, wanted to clean it and polish the washers but 2 of the screws are stripped and I'm moving and packed my easy out so will probably send it back to benchmade and have it laser engraved at the same time. But until then I will be sitting here breaking it in. Will probably have them take a look at the blade play. When you get the pivot loose enough to flip it open I have terrible horizontal play.

Dang, that sucks. The screws were stripped on arrival to you? You should be able to just exchange it with the dealer. It would save you some time. Bummer.

I was split between the rift and contego and ended up choosing the contego. I like the more elongated blade of the contego and don't need another reverse tanto in the lineup. But in a perfect world I would love to have an auto rift.

Grabbed these two but the Rift has turned into my EDC. Great knife and could not be happier that I got it.
Frank.

I have used 810 "deep carry" clip on my Rift. Since Rift has longer tail, it fits in my pocket better than stock carry clip.
